"boo!"
the laugh of a small girl echoed out of the son household as hyungwon reached the door.
"hyunwoo," the lanky boy called into the house softly.
"why hello their monsieur how can i help you today," a young animated girl popped out in front of him with soot smudged across her upper lip. the girl was obviously attempting to look serious but her eyes were beaming.
"are you by any chance in contact with a man called son hyunwoo?" i grinned playing along.
"ah oui oui monsieur," the girl attempted a deep french accent, "right this way."
the small girl led hyungwon down the main hallway in hyunwoo's house to a bedroom placed on the opposite side of the room hyungwon had been so used to entering.
"here we are sir," the little girl held out her hand for a tip as the finale of her little act, luckily, hoseok had given hyungwon candies earlier this afternoon, quite the luxury they were. he placed a red candy into her small hand and her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and she zoomed away with it like it was a precious diamond.
"sorry if she was bothering you," a voice said from inside the bedroom.
hyungwon looked over and smiled. hyunwoo was sat on a rocking chair in the corner of the room with a baby propped up in his arms.
"aww she's so adorable." hyungwon cooed as he walked over.
"i know, she's got our mum's eyes."
"speaking of your mother, how is she? the treatment going any better?"
"things could be going a lot better for her than they are at the moment, let's just leave it at that," hyunwoo sighed placing the quiet baby into the crib pushed up against the far wall.
the two boys walked outside and sat at hyunwoo's table, "so, what did you come over here for, i told changkyun that i wouldn't be able to see anyone for at least the next week unless their helping me babysit, and especially at this hour, are you stupid? you could have been caught so easily, and then what?"
"well i can't exactly walk down the street to your house in broad daylight either can i?" hyungwon retorted.
"right, i'm sorry i di-"
"forget it hyunwoo, it's fine.
hyungwon pulled out a small slip of paper for the other boy.
"this is what i brought, it's from joonheon, he said it was urgent and you needed to get it tonight."
hyunwoo stared at the yellowed paper now in his hands. scrawled across in joonheon's messy handwriting was coordinates.
hyungwon watched curiously as his friend made a face at the paper before putting it into his back pocket.
"what is it?"
"oh, nothing, don't worry about it okay," hyunwoo said smoothing everything over with a smile, "i think you should head home now hyungwon, it's really late, and i don't want you to get caught out past curfew for this."
"alright, i'll see you sometime soon then, have a good night." hyungwon rose up and opened the front door.
"you too," hyunwoo said before the door was shut.
hyungwon walked briskly behind all the businesses on their street, occasionally moving trash bins out of the way, reaching the bend where his house stood he paused a few moments and just stared.
flashback
"hi! i'm hoseok! did you just move here?" an animated boy ran up to hyungwon from around the bend practically vibrating with excitement.
