8. The Night it all Happened

I wake up to loud and constant knocking on my bedroom door. I check my watch and I find that I took a three hour nap, covered by nothing but my undergarments and a blanket. Good thing I always remember to lock my door. I lay on the bed for a while hoping the knocking will go away soon. But it doesn't. I yawn and stretch, feeling super drowsy. I get up and put on a red sweater and some leggings and open the door to find Sam, who was waiting outside my door. I wonder how long he's been standing there. 

"What?" I ask irritably.

"Well, I dug up on a bit more research," Sam begins, "you know how the "legend" says that the Lady of the River takes and drowns any teenage boys there at night?"

"Cause' thats totally all I need after a few hours of relaxation." I sigh, "Carry on."

"So, I read a bit further in the article, and it seems that Catherine had a friend who she got into a fight with by the exact same river, the night she went there with her boyfriend. The girl had pushed Catherine into the river, and Catherine had hit her head on a rock, being unconscious for about half an hour or so.  And the girl she argued with, Madelyn Case, had later told Catherine's boyfriend that Catherine had cheated on him. Which wasn't true. So then the boyfriend, his name was Jayden Pierson, went to the lake and drowned Catherine there." Sam continued.

"Wait, then why don't we go ask Jayden Peason whatever his name was why he drowned her?" I ask Sam.

"Hold on, that't the part I'm getting to," he replies, "Jayden Pierson is dead, because the night after Catherine's murder, he went back to look for and cover up any evidence suggesting that it might have been him. But that's just my theory. Jayden had a friend with him, Benjamin Heath, whom he told that he was looking for something he lost. I know that because it was in the murder file that the police showed us."

"One second, how did you get to look into the police murder file?" I put my hands on my hips.

"Ehh.. Fake ID..........." Sam trails off.

"You've got to be kidding me, DO YOU KNOW HOW ILLEGAL THA - " Sam cuts me off, 

"Lets discuss this later, let me finish the story. So, Benjamin saw something that night. He claims that he saw the water in the river, a flowing river, stop moving. And while Jayden was still looking around a spot by the riverbank, he saw some water start bubbling, and then building up into a human form. Then he saw that the figure was a girl, that happened - "

"To look exactly like Catherine." I finish Sam's sentence. 

"Yup. The girl turned around, put her fingers on her lips and said "Shhhh" and Jayden didn't hear a thing. Obviously, Benjamin had no idea what to do so he kept quiet. And as he heard Jayden's scream he took a quick glance towards that direction and saw the girl slam Jayden's head onto a rock by the river and then held him underwater. Benjamin ran into the woods and didn't see any more than that." 

"I think I know where we can find the body." I say, as Dean walks in through the door, "If we can get Benjamin to tell us the exact place Jayden was "looking for his things", it might be the place where he hid Catherine's body." I suggest.

"Good hypothesis, lets go find where this Benjamin lives." Sam says, walking towards the door.

"Hold up, I have something to question your theory with, Sam." Dean stops Sam in his tracks, "So the story said that this spirit drowns teenage boys at night, then why did Cia get attacked, as she was a girl in the daytime?"

"It's simple, adding to Sam's theory, I think that Catherine goes for girls during the day, since her argument with her friend and being tossed on the rocks and all, but then lets them go lie on the brink of death, unconscious like she was during her fight and proof to back that up since she left me unconscious, and then she goes for guys at night, and this time she really does kill her victim, since it was at night she was drowned by a guy. See where I'm getting at here?" I explain to Dean.

"Girl's got a pretty damn good point." Dean says, nodding.

"Let's head over to this Benjamin Heath person's house then." Sam goes downstairs, then followed by Dean and I.

The end of this hunt is approaching... The only way to see how Cia and the Bros solve it is to wait for the next part and then read whatever follows...
