OK, lets just take a moment to acknowledge the amazing new cover I made for this story. I personally find it way more interesting and spooky than the first one, and don't worry, I kept the galaxy star symbol for you guys. Let's just get into the story already.
Dean's POV:
Damn. This girl Cia is much smarter than I thought. Then yet again, I have to keep reminding myself that she's not a beginner and that she's been training for years, just like Sammy and I have. But this is her first hunt. Hmm. I follow Cia and Sam outside to the car and I get in the drivers' seat.
"So, where to?" I ask.
"29 Ashton Street." Sam answers.
"Just straight ahead, and then left." Cia adds on.
"Thanks." I say flatly.
"How is it that like yesterday you were all over Cia and now you're like Mr. Sarcasm towards her." Sam looks at me through the car mirror, raising an eyebrow. I rolls my eyes, let out a frustrated sigh and keep quiet. All of the signs that I do not want to answer that question. Personally because I don't want to look like a dumbass in front of two people that are younger than me. We drive in silence to the house.
"Got your ID?" I ask Sam.
"Yep. But what about Cia?" he asks.
"Don't worry, I've got an alibi figured out." Cia responds. She walks up to the door and knocks on it, Sam and I following behind her shortly. The door opens and we see an average teenager standing in the doorway.
"Cia..? Cia Bengtsson..? What are you doing here?" the teenager, supposedly Benjamin asks.
"Um... This is the FBI, they came to my house to ask questions about Jayden's disappearance. They asked to see you, because they read your file about what you said about that night." Cia tells him. Pretty good excuse. Benjamin nods and lets us all in. He sits us down on the couch and begins explaining the same story Sam told us about from the file. As we conclude, I ask the one question which we need an answer to.
"So, do you know the place Jayden was looking? Where he was looking for what he lost?" I ask Benjamin.
"Yeah.. Yeah I do, I remember it all so well. He was looking by the base of a tree behind a bush on the - " Cia cuts him off,
"Do you think you can show us instead?" she asks.
"No way, I'm not going back there." Benjamin says, with a scared look on his face.
"Well, can you at least tell us what the tree might have looked like and which side of the river it was on? We're just trying to figure out what he had lost." Sam presses him a bit further.
"It was.. It was on the.. You know the side where you come out of the trail, well it's on the other side of that, and its by a.. A... A big oak tree surrounded by bushes....." Benjamin says.
"OK then, lets go check it out." I clap my hands together and stand up.
"Thanks for your time Benjamin." Sam nods at him. We get up and leave and as we step out the door Cia says,
"CAN I GO HOME NOW?" extra loudly. I look at her, confused.
"What? I want to make the act look real. You know, I used to want to be an actress." she smiles, "And that was before I knew I had to hunt." she adds more quietly. We hop into the car and I drive us once again, back to the trail.
"Umm, Cia maybe you should stay in the car, so nothing gets you today. Cause' you know, its still daytime and all..." Sam says to Cia.
"Yeah I get it, you guys go," Cia smiles and takes out her phone, "I'll be fine." she calls after us. We start walking on the still muddy trail. I look up at a rustling sound in the trees and then I curse as I step into a puddle. I shake off my foot and keep walking.
"Hrmm, it says in this article that the Lady of the River haunts the surroundings of the river, travelling through different bodies of water, and also haunts the path she came." Sam reads off a magazine.
"What is that?" I snatch the magazine from Sam's hands and look at it.
"It's a dumb fan fiction article. How do we know this is even true? And what the hell does "the path she came" even mean?" I roll my eyes and give the magazine back to Sam.
"Well, it's written by the same people who posted that website where we found what happened in the first place." Sam says, "And I'm guessing that it means like which way she came to the river. The only way to the place is the trail. Hm." he adds. We reach the river. The big oak tree stands out immediately amongst all the other trees.
"Over there's a giant tree, covered with bushes, and it's on the other side of the river." I look in the tree's direction.
"That's the one then." Sam starts wading across the river. Considering that one shoe is already soaked, I just jump in and get to the other side as well. We start looking through the bushes as a few girls come to the river, holding what looks like camping supplies.
"Umm, Dean should we warn them about..." Sam looks at me.
"We'll help them when shit actually goes down. For now let's focus on finding the body. We look around for what seems like fifteen minutes and we still haven't found anything. After another ten minutes, Sam calls me over and points to something through the bush. He squeezes through and beckons for me to follow. We find a mound of dirt and a rusted shovel that looks like its been there since the medieval times.
"I think we've found what we're searching for." I dust of my hands. "It's strange how the girls haven't been attacked yet. They seem completely fine. I thought she haunted everywhere, the surrounding area and all, travelling through bodies of water, you know." Dean makes a mocking spooky action.
"Wait... Travelling through bodies of water, the puddles on the trail... Dean, I think I know why the ghost hasn't gone for the girls..." Sam trails off.
"Cia.." I gasp.
Well Dean, now shit really is going down. Guess you'll have to wait to see who may survive and who might not... Comment what you think about the new cover!
