Before we begin, I would like to note that every hunt in this story takes place days or even a couple of weeks after the previous hunt. Like I said in an earlier chapter, hunters don't hunt every second of the day! Well, here goes the beginning to our newest hunt:
Prologue:
"Room for two, please." my boyfriend James asks the front desk.
"We'll be with you in a moment." the guy at the reception smiles. He gives his computer mouse a few clicks and heads into a back room. He returns holding a room key and some papers.
"Sign here," he points to a box on the paper and then at another one, "and here. I will need your passports for scanning please." I get our passports out of the bag and hand it to the man at the desk. He types in his code thingies and says our names out loud, in case he got anything wrong.
"Ms. Lacey Rossi and Mr. James Underwood?" the man looks up at us from the desk.
"Yes." I nod. He hands us the room key and we head up to room... 666. We step into a room with a neatly made bed, a bathroom on the side by the entrance and a closet adjacent to the bathroom. We did't get such a good view. Just overlooking the massive garden of the Grand Chateau Hotel. It's not until we start unpacking when I realise another door opposite the bathroom. I go to check it out and as I turn the handle I find that it is locked. It's probably a storage room for housekeeping. But I still do not like that door. We head out to lunch and then come back to rest. When the first day is over, James and I head to bed.
I'm woken up at some point during the night. I check the clock on the bedside table and find that it is 2.36 AM. My attention turns towards what woke me up. I hear a rustling and something like a knocking sound coming from inside the door. I poke James awake as as soon as he sits up the sound stops.
"Could you hear that?" I whisper to him.
"No, hear what?" he asks sleepily.
'The sounds! The sounds from the door!" I hold tight to the covers.
"It's nothing, just go back to sleep." James closes his eyes and rests his head down onto the pillow. Even though it is difficult I manage to fall asleep.
Soon it is the next day, when James and I head out to look around at the old town. We look at old antique shops, newer shops, and much more. After a while we split up while James goes to look at some men's shoes and I walk to a mall to go to H&M. When we return in the evening, feeling exhausted, we head down to dinner and then we go back to the room and straight to bed. Tonight there were no strange sounds coming from the door.
On our third day we meet up with our friends, have lunch and go on a ferry to the other side of the city. Our friends give us a tour and we do some sightseeing, going up into tall buildings. After sightseeing, our friends surprise us with a special dinner at a fancy restaurant. When we get back to the hotel James and I feel like going for a relaxing swim after a day full of walking around. On this night, the sounds from the door return. This time, they're so loud that James even wakes up. He grabs my hands and as soon as he says,
"What the hell is that?" the noise and any sign of it disappears.
"It's probably a connecting door to a room next to us." he suggests. My heart rate slows since that seems like a rational guess. I mean, it makes sense.
The next morning we wake up and we hang around the hotel for a day. We go into the auditorium, and we watch a hotel presentation on how the Grand Chateau Hotel was built. The slide shows displays pictures of the actual blueprints and other architectural things from the hotels origins. After watching the presentation James and I head back to the rooms and get changed to go for another swim. We spend the last parts of the day sunbathing and swimming and then we head up to the room. At night as we pack our things I feel like I keep seeing a tall, dark figure out of the corner of my eye. But every time I look to my side there's nothing there. I also noticed that it can't be a neighbouring room making those sounds from behind the door, since all of the rooms are at least 3 meters apart. I just go to bed, hoping that there won't be any weird noises tonight. Well, I guess hoping wasn't enough. I wake up to very loud banging on the other side of the mysterious door. I clench the bed sheets tightly as the noise gradually gets so loud that the door bursts open. I whimper and back lower down into the covers as I squint to see what is inside the dark space behind the door. Wait... There is no dark space. It's just a brick wall. I blink once. Blink twice. It's still there. Just a brick wall. I blink a third time. Still just a brick wall. I blink a fourth time and before I know it a dark faceless figure dressed in black hovers in front of me. It grabs me by the neck and I open my mouth to scream but no sound comes out. The creature holds my head tight until the light fades from my eyes and it carries me through the window, outside into the garden. Little did I know, that James was watching the whole time, paralysed and unable to move.
James packs his last few things in silence the next morning. He takes the elevator down to the lobby to check out. He hands in the room key and fills in the last few papers.
"And where is your partner, sir?" the man at the front desk asks.
"Dont worry," James says, his face expressionless,
"she went for a walk in the garden."
Did you guys like it? Did you not? Tell me in the comments! Please keep in mind that this is just a prologue to the second hunt, and the real stuff will come in the next chapter. This one was just to let you guys know what will be going on later in the story, and to inform you of any events that happened before the actual hunt starts. I should have included a prologue in the first hunt about the Lady of the River, but too bad. I can't change it now. Speaking of the Lady of the River, which chapter was you favourite out of the 10 in that hunt? You know the drill, tell me in the comments! Thanks - Tove :D
