Equine Ballerina [Sebastian Stan AU]

Chapter Five

I gazed out of the window from the indoor arena, sighing to myself in frustration as I currently tried to deal with both mares who were trotting around me. Neither of them seemed to want to follow my gestures and both decided to just play around with each other.

I centred  myself again in the arena, and asked both horses to move forward  around me, making a clicking sound with my tongue to get their attention. From outside I heard a truck roll by on the road, obviously one of the trucks from the film crew. The bay mare kicked out slightly, whilst the other mare pinned her ears back at the sudden noise.

'Come on you two' I called out to them, wanting them to start pay attention and respond to my cues. I got them trotting forward again in a circle around me, before I asked them to transition into a canter, getting them to spiral out making the circle larger before asking them to come  and joined me in the centre of the circle again.

'Good girls' I said giving them a quick pat each on their foreheads.Both snorted loudly, before nudging each other as I clipped on their lead ropes before walking out towards the gate, I looked up hearing someone else opening the gate.

'Morning Jocelyn' Sebastian said, 'Hope you don't mind me coming down to watch you'

'Oh I didn't even notice you, I'm so sorry' I said, feeling bad if he had been trying to get my attention. I walked through the gate, noticing Sebastian give both horses a bit of a wide berth. 'You ok?' I asked.

He nodded, ' Yep, just giving them some space'

'Oh  they should be fine with you walking alongside them' I said, watching both horses eyeing the truck that has rolled by earlier, it was now parked just outside the arena.

'They seemed to be pretty cranky during your session' He said, eyeing the horses before taking a few steps on front of us.

I tried my best to hold back a laugh,  'don't worry it's just a mare thing' I replied looking up at him and being greeted by a confused look.

'Aren't all horses a mare?!' He asked pointing to the two horses I was leading.

I smiled at him, 'no,  so mares are female horses, geldings and stallions are male horses' giving him a quick explanation.

'Oh so wait you don't like everything about horses then' he chuckled, running a hand through his hair.

'They just aren't the best to work with' I replied, walking the two horses ahead of where Sebastian was standing, adding, 'At my previous job , I was able to avoid working with them thanks to their no mare rule'

I saw Amber walking over to me, and I glanced down at my watch realising I needed to get the other horses ready for the riding session.

'Morning Sebastian' Amber said looking at him for a split second before focusing her gaze on me,' Luke wants me to take these two whilst you tack up your two horses and help Jacob get them ready'

I nodded holding out both lead roles for her to take, 'both can just be taken out to the paddock for the morning, they won't need a cool down or a brush for now, I need to work them again this afternoon hopefully'

She nodded in response before walking down the alleyway down to the paddocks.

I looked over at Sebastian as he walked to stand closer to me, I realised he was wearing jeans and slightly smirked.

'You'll want better pants then that' I said, smiling at his confused look, 'for riding, you're going to be riding for at least 2-3 hours a day for now, they won't be comfortable for long'

He looked down at his pants, then back at me, glancing down at my own hunter green riding breeches. 'It's a western, don't Cowboys wear jeans' he asked, a small grin appearing on his face, at his fast thinking and reply.
