Please And Thank You

Your quill bounced up and down, your hand shaking, miserably. You glanced outside your window, peeking at the time. You released an exasperated sigh. It was already 1 in the morning. You and Cedric had managed to spend the entire day in the astronomy, without anyone noticing you were gone. When you had finally said your goodbyes, you were ready to cry. You hoped that this plan would work. It had to. What would happen if it didn't?
Now you sat at your desk, racking your brain trying to think of the right words to write down. In order for this plan to work you needed your mother's help. Your father had a very low tolerance for you as it was, but that didn't mean he would let you disappear for an entire 3 months without doing some investigating. Unless, you mother had already looked into the situation. If she gave her approval there would be no suspicion. Your father knew she was too scared of him to go against his rules, so he wouldn't expect her to help you carry out a plan that broke just about every rule he had.
You dipped the tip of your quill into the black ink, contemplating how to start the letter. Your mother, a very timid woman, would be very reluctant to help. But if you used the right words, there was a chance she'd agree to help. You sucked in a breath, you only had one shot at this. Her response could make or break the plan. Your quill hit the parchment. You're elegant penmanship coating the paper as you began to write.

Dear Mother,

I received Father's letter. I suppose you know about that whole scandal. And I'm sure you're wondering who my Hufflepuff companion is. Well, there's no easy way to say this, but, his name is Cedric...and he's my...boyfriend. I've known him since my very first day at Hogwarts and we've been friends ever since. In secret that is. We haven't been dating all but 2 days. Mother, I'm begging you not to tell Father. Please! You know what he'll do if he finds out. Some of my bruises haven't healed completely. I can't do this any longer. Father has warned me to stay away from members of other houses, but Mother, you have to understand. I love Cedric. I need him. I know you'll understand, because it's how you described feeling when you first met Father. Please Mother, you have to help me! Cedric has offered to let me stay with him for the Holiday. Everything will be fine. I'll write every week and I'll only stay for half of the Holiday if you'd prefer. All you would need to do is convince Father that I'm going to stay with Aunt Ella. I know he'd listen to you. Please Mother! I feel guilty about leaving you, but Matt will be staying with Draco and...I don't think I can go through any more beatings. At least not for a little while. Mother I'm begging you. I anxiously await your reply.

You exhaled, as you re-read your work. This had to work. It had to. You didn't know what you would do if she vetoed your plan. You cracked your knuckles, stretching them. You pulled out an emerald green envelope from the desk drawer. Carefully, you folded the parchment and slid it into the envelope. Your hands shook as you melted the wax, quickly stamping the Slytherin crest into place. Pulling the stamp back, you started at the imprint of the snake. Here goes nothing.
Crossing the room, you slid open the lock on your owls cage. You held your arm out, allowing her to use you as a perch. You stroked her head as you handed her the letter. You walked over to the window, pushing open the glass. You were one of the luckier Slytherin students, who got a dorm above the lake's surface. "Here you go Wendy. Deliver this to Mother, but make sure Father isn't home when you do." She cocked her head to the side, the letter clamped in her beak. You smiled. "Please and thank you." And with that she flew off, disappearing over the horizon.
