Ileana's POV:
"If only a visit could last forever. Then it wouldn't really be a visit, would it?"
I checked myself in the mirror as I talked to my reflection. I wanted to look perfect, not like I was going to die of sadness. At the moment, I was failing miserably.
"Come on, Ileana. Pull it together. Princesses don't cry in public."
I smoothed my dress one more time, adjusted my ribbon, and headed for the door.
Alexei was leaving today, going home to Russia, and his people. It was his duty. And mine was to stay here, in Romania, with my people.
" Princess, you look ill, are you alright?"
My lady in waiting, Ecaterina, looked me over with worry in her eyes.
"I'm fine, I'll just miss them so."
"Oh, darling, I'm sure we all will."
She took me into her arms and placed her head on mine.
" Don't worry, I'm sure that they will come back to visit."
" Someday." I whispered wistfully.
I was ready, time to face the masses.
