Today was the day. Today was definitely the day that you were going to meet your soulmate. You only had a few thousand steps left on your mark until you were supposed to meet your soulmate. You requested the day off work and you got all dolled up. You were planning on going out for a night on the town with your friends. That was your plan anyway until your boss called you as you were coming out of the shower. You groaned before answering your phone.

"Hey, [Y/N] I know it's supposed to be your day off but you need to come into work tonight. We're catering a huge event at Wayne manor and Eliza's just called out with the flu. We need you here tonight." Your boss said on the other end of the line. You sighed audibly knowing that you didn't really have a choice in the matter.

"Do I get overtime?" You ask, subconsciously already knowing the answer.

"No. We'll cut your hours back later." He answered without missing a beat. Great. Not only were you giving up possibly the night of dreams but there also was nothing in it for you. Despite all of that you felt obligated to assist in any way that you could.

"Yeah, I can come in." You relented. Feeling deflated you started to get ready for work rather than meeting the love of your life. A small part of the back of your mind wondered if it was still possible for you to meet your soul mate tonight.

When you got to Wayne manor you only stopped for a brief moment to take in its splendor before going to work. You worked diligently to help set up the catering set up and tried not to look at the number on your forearm too often. An older coworker of yours noticed your distracted state and patted you gently on the back.

"Don't worry,[Y/N], if it's meant to be it'll happen. I remember the night I met Frank. Meeting him came so naturally, it was like something out of a fairy tale. Your prince is out there. Who knows, with a party like this he might actually be a prince." She said winking before leaving your side to get back to work. You couldn't help but to laugh lightly from her words.

Soon enough the party guests started to arrive and you walked around the ballroom with a tray full of hors d'oeuvres. As you circled the room you caught sight of a stunning woman in a deep blue gown disappear from sight behind a pillar. She leaned against the pillar for support looking completely exhausted. When you looked at her you couldn't help but to think she looked ... alone. Against your better judgement you walked over to the girl and offered her food.

"Would you like one ma'am?" You ask the young woman, holding out a tray of assorted hors d'oeuvres. She looked at you tentatively before taking one and popping it into her mouth.

"Thanks." She said begrudgingly and took another from the tray. "If you don't mind could you stay close by? I haven't eaten all day." She asked, thinking back behind the pillar, her eyes looking past you to the party. Her eyes wandered around, seemingly to be searching for something.

"Of course, Ma'am." You answer politely. It was first and foremost your job to serve the party goers and you were not about to disappoint. You stayed silent for a moment wondering curiously about this woman until you finally spoke to her. "I'm sorry if I am overstepping my bounds, Ma'am, but are you hiding from someone?" You ask, curiosity getting the better of you.

"Yeah you could say that." She scoffed slightly before sighing. "It's my family. They want me to be ... well this" She gestured down to her extravagant dress. You couldn't imagine where her problem lied with her life. She was rich, beautiful, famous. She had a degree of freedom in her life that you desired.

"You don't want to be here?" You asked incredulously. "I would give anything to be in your shoes. Your life seems so glamorous." You gush. The lady gave a shrug of her shoulders before taking another hors d'oeuvre.
