Chapter 7

Day 2: Time 4:43 AM

Mai's POV

It's only been two days since they have started to work on the case however they are able to witness more than one unnatural occurrence and they are t look after a child that is somehow lined to the case. Shibuya-san and I were in our room taking care of our new responsibility. However, things are not going as smoothly as I taught it will. At this moment in time I am dead tiered as I haven't received a wink of sleep where as my supposedly boss was sleeping like he is dead. Huh... What am I going to do, I need my sleep in order to maintain my power and move forward with this case. I am going to wake him up, It's not like the child is my responsibility.

Normal POV

Mai crossed across the room and approached the bed with and placed the infant next to Naru and placed a pillow just so the baby will not fall over by chance. Next she went around to the other side of the bed so she can wake Naru up without disturbing the infant who is now fast asleep. She shook Naru by his shoulders and expected Naru stirred awake from his sleep very quickly. He opened his eyes to see Mai hovering over him and shaking his shoulders.

"What is it Mai?" He asked as he sat up and leaned against the hard board of the bed.

"Well, can you look after the child as I catch up with my sleep. She just fell as sleep couple of minutes ago. oh and I have changed his cloth and feed her, it's just you only have to watch over her okay?".

"Get some rest" with that Naru got up from the bed and let Mai lay down. He walked around the and removed the pillow that Mai placed at the infant's side and put it in its place. Then took the child and placed him in the center of the bed and Naru laid down.

"What do you think you are doing? I asked you to look after the child; Not to go back to sleep" she whispered harshly as not wanting to wake the child.

"Well, Mai I don't remember saying that I will stay awake, beside you yourself said that he just fell asleep meaning he is not likely to wake up any time soon, so there is no point in me staying awake at this early in the morning" Naru retorted

"Fine do whatever you want, but don't expect me look after him if he makes a fuss" with that Mai went in to her much needed sleep and then soon followed by the Naru.

As they went in to deep sleep, they both didn't pick up a sinister aura that was sleeping in to their room and formed a shape of a man. His eyes were blood red with purple aura purple aura surrounding him. He had a sadistic smile on his face and his eyes gleamed hatred and betrayal. To sum it up he screamed danger. The purple covered figure hovered on top of the three sleeping figures and looked straight at the sleeping child.

"Finally you showed up. I've been waiting for a long time to see you again and to make you disappear. To wipe out the last heir. It's also the best way to make your parents suffer. It as pity, your mother thought that these two fools will be able to save your precious little life. Well what a fool she is, I will enjoy making you suffer and in the end killing you in the most painful way". With that the smoke disappeared. This soon was followed by the sound of the door opening which startled Mai and Naru awake.

"what going on here?" Naru enquired as he looked up to see Lin and Monk standing by the door as if ready to attack.

"My Sheki sensed a malicious spirit here for a small period of time so we came to investigate what's going on" Lin replied

"hmmm..." Naru hummed as he analyzed the information.

"I believe this has something to do with this child, this is my intuition speaking and I have 100% trust in it" said Mai "Moreover, I can now feel fluctuations in the atmosphere around us".

"So... what are u guys doing in a bed together, this makes a nice picture of a family. Father, the kid and mother" monk said trying to dissolve the tense atmosphere.

Both Naru and Mai looked at each other and looked away

"Well, we'll look at the thermal camera in order to see if there was a difference in temperature around the room, also we'll go and wake Hara-san up and make her do a walk through to see if she sense something and Lin I think you will have to crack the riddle as fast as possible and report it back to me as soon as possible" Naru said. With that Lin and Naru exited the room and Naru went back to bed.

"Aren't going to check what happened?" Mai asked.

"No, Lin is going to carry out the investigation till dawn and then I'll take over from him in the morning. Mai it is essential that one must have a good sleep in order function properly during the day time and the same rule applies to a person that works at the night as they should also have a good night sleep during the day, if not then they will be drained and in other words they will be useless" Naru concluded.

"Whatever you say" with that Mai went back to sleep.

Day 2: Time 7:28 AM

Mai woke up as the sun shine through the curtains and hit her face. She tried to block of the sun rays that's disturbing her sleep. She sat up in bed and looked towards the window to see Naru sanding there facing her. A small blush spread across her face as her deep buried feelings started to resurface and grow back to life.

"Good morning Mai, It's time to wake up" Naru said as he approached her side of bed and leaned down to kiss her forehead "Oh and Mai be a good girl and make a cup of tea okay" with that Naru exited their room and disappeared behind the door, the blush on Mai's face deepened as she sat their shell shocked.

Next chapter will be more exiting and with Naru and Mai interaction
