Somewhere in Romania.

Jai reached out, his fist embedding in the werewolf's chest and with a swift movement, he pulled his heart out. The werewolf stared at him in disbelief before his eyes became lifeless, his body collapsing to the ground.

Jai tossed the heart beside the dead body, wiping his bloody hand on his dark jeans. He had been doing this for the past week he and Jonathan had been in Romania. He was killing every werewolf he could find before Jonathan got to them, turning them to hybrids.

It was cruel fate, so Jai had decided it'd be easier to kill them off. It wasn't easy at first, taking an innocent's life, but the more he did it, the less guilty he felt. He kept telling himself it was for a better cause. Death would be better than being sired to Jonathan.

Shortly after his killing, Jai returned to the hotel he and Jonathan were staying at. It was one if the fanciest and most expensive one and being vampires, they were easily able to compel themselves a suite for free.

The suite was empty and quiet as Jai entered, meaning that Jonathan and his few hybrids were out. He sighed as she walked into the room he was "sleeping" in. But he never did sleep anymore. He pulled out a box hidden between two shelves and set it on the vanity, hesitating before opening it. Jai would often indulge in its glory whenever he'd feel alone or guilty.

There wasn't much inside, only a few personal belongings. Letters Beau and Daniel had sent him, a few postcards, and pictures. There were only two pictures, one of him and the boys and one of Marina.

It was his favorite picture of her. He had taken it with Luke's camera and caught her off guard. A slight smile graced her lips and her brows were furrowed as she glanced out of the window to the sunset. The sun's rays cascaded over her delicate features, making her brown eyes look a light Amber color and her hair shine.

He picked the picture up and ran his thumb over it, admiring every aspect of it. He glanced away for a second and back down to the box where something caught his attention. He reaches his hand in and picked up the necklace he had given her by its chain. He felt his heart clench, the necklace still having her sweet, faint smell.

God how he missed her. He had taken the necklace with him when he'd left to keep a part of her with him always. He did plan on returning to her soon. But he had to get things done first. Jai thought that by spending so much time with Jonathan and learning about his past and weaknesses he would eventually know how to kill him. And he was right. In the past two and a half years, he'd learned that the only thing able to kill someone of Jonathan's kind is a stake made out of white oak.

That type of tree was hard to come by but Jai had James looking more into the rare plant. James had succeeded, discovering that there was only one tree left and it was settled in Romania.

The front door was opened and Jai quickly shoved the picture and necklace back into the box and put it back between the shelves. Jonathan back and Jai mentally prepared himself for the child like tantrum Jonathan was about to throw.

"Luuuuke. Stop I'm going to be late." Marina said as she tried to keep from moaning. Luke's head was in the crook of her neck, his soft lips placing delicate kisses and gently biting at her sweet spot.

"You can call in sick." He mumbled against her skin, his hand slowly trailing over her bare breasts, gently flicking her nipples and Marina bit her lips to stifle a moan.

She suddenly snapped out of her blissful state and pulled away, quickly getting off the bed and slipping on a fresh pair of underwear and a bra. Luke groaned and pouted as she changed, throwing his head back against the pillows.

"Quit your whining. We had enough last night." Marina said, slipping on her button up shirt.

Luke's pout turned into a smirk and he winked, placing his hands behind his head. "I know. I practically had you screaming my name". He spoke in a triumphant tone, and Marina felt her cheeks flush.

She slipped on her pants and shoes, tying her hair up into a 'teacher' bun as Luke called it. "Shut up."

"No that's not how you score them, Beau!" Marina screeched, snatching the test away from Beau.

Beau and Daniel had decided to come over and visit that evening. They had dinner and Marina needed to grade tests. Beau had insisted on helping her while Luke and Daniel sat on the couch, playing some stupid video game.

"You're a little too hard on these kids, 'Rina." Beau remarked, balancing the red pen above his upper lip. Marina rolled her eyes at his childish ways and went back to grading, pushing her hair out of her face.

"Am not. They're not going to learn by not trying. I'm doing these kids a favor." Marina believed she wasn't a hard teacher. Yes, she was strict but was lenient when it came to grading. She taught English for seniors, and she thought her class was fairly easy compared to the other teachers'.

Beau was about to make a snarky remark when the sound of the telephone going off interrupted him. Marina glanced up, seeing that Luke was too focused on the game to bother to pick up the phone. She sighed and made her way into the kitchen where the phone kept on ringing and ringing.

She picked it up and frowned slightly when the caller ID said 'Unknown' but decided to answer anyway.

"Hello?" She spoke out, trying to not sound annoyed in the slightest.

There was no response, but Marina clearly heard the person on the other line's breath hitch

There was no response, but Marina clearly heard the person on the other line's breath hitch. Then the line went dead and Marina was left in confusion but ignored it. It was probably some immature kids prank calling so she thought nothing of it.

Jai panicked once he had heard her voice and quickly ended the call. His breathing was ragged and he felt his chest tighten.

He hadn't heard her voice in so long. It was still as sweet and soft as it had always been and Jai felt himself grow depressed as his thoughts wandered about Marina.

She wasn't suppose to answer. He wasn't suppose to hear her voice. But Jai was sort of glad she was the one to answer and not Luke. It gave him hope. Hope that she would welcome him with open arms and fall in love with him once again.

But, oh, how wrong he would be.
