Romania.
"I'm at the place you said it'd be. But it's not here, James". Jai spoke to James on the phone, running a hand through his tousled hair.He looked around the woods he was currently standing in. There were many trees and they each looked about the same.
"It should stand out to you. Or it may be hidden in plain sight", James replied.
Jai looked around the clearing once more, still finding nothing. He was growing agitated and was about to give up when something caught his eye in his peripheral vision. The trees surrounding him were that of a greyish color and were tall and skinny. This tree was much lighter and thicker, with no leaves on its branches.
"I think I found it." Jai said to James, his eyes never leaving the tree.
"Then you know what to do." And with that the line went dead. Jai slipped his phone back into his pocket and walked to the tree. He ran his fingertips over its rough bark and with one swift movement, he'd broken the tree in half.
He broke the giant log into much smaller pieces, big enough to form a stake. When he was finished with his craftsmanship, he threw the stakes into the sports bag he'd brought along with him and sped out of the forest to return back to the hotel.

Jai held Jonathan against the wall by his throat, a stake in the other hand. Jonathan coughed up blood, looking sickly but that didn't stop the smirk forming on his lips.
"Never thought you had it in you, Jaidon. I feel slightly betrayed", he feigned a hurt expression and Jai only glared. "Well come on now do it. You always run from your problems. You always take the easy way out, coward."
Jai was growing angrier which each word that left Jonathan's mouth, clenching the stake tightly in his hand. Once he'd gotten "home", he was sly enough to slip heavy doses of vervain and wolfsbane into the bottle of bourbon Jonathan would always drink. He doubted his plan to weaken him would work, but he had surprisingly succeeded and now Jonathan stood before him, weak and at the hands of death.
He'd killed all the hybrids, so it was just the two now. Jai never understood how he found killing so easy. When he'd first turned, he had his morals where he wouldn't dare kill someone. And through his short years of being immortal, he'd stuck by them up until he fled with Jonathan.
He'd killed men, women, teens, werewolves, vampires, etc. You name it and he'd kill them. The only thing he'd never dare to kill was a child. Maybe it was because Marina had lost a child and a part of him felt extremely guilty if he ever did. Or maybe it was that his morals were still hiding behind the facade he'd put.
Whatever it was, it gave him hope. Jai wasn't himself and he knew that. And he wasn't proud of it. He'd embraced his true nature, the side of him he tried so hard to preserve.
And sadly, he was okay with that.
Jai pursed his lips, the stake still held tightly in his fist. Without a second thought, he'd plunged the stake through Jonathan's chest, piercing his heart.
Disbelief flashed through Jonathan's eyes before they became lifeless. His body fell to the ground and upon impact, it burst into flames due to the effect the white oak had on him. Jai panted, watching as Jonathan's body burned, turning to nothing but a pile of ashes and bones.
He couldn't believe it. He'd actually done it. He'd done what no other witch or vampire or werewolf could do. He'd killed Jonathan. He was dead.
He'd have to get rid of any evidence he'd left in the hotel. So Jai compelled housekeeping to clean up the ashes and throw them in the nearest lake. And once everything was taken care of, he'd packed his belongings and compelled, again, himself a flight out of Romania to California. He was going home.
He was going back to Marina.

"You can be such a child sometimes", Marina giggled and cleaned the sauce off of Luke's cheek, giving it a chaste kiss once the smooth skin was sauce free.
Luke shrugged his shoulders and smiled cheesily at her, his eyes lighting up at hearing her laugh. "Can't change. Sorry."
Marina rolled her eyes and set their empty plates in the sink, turning back to him. "You're washing the dishes then." Luke groaned but shut up once Marina shot him a look.
The doorbell went off then, and Marina left Luke in the kitchen to go answer the door. It was late so the only person she could think to come knocking at this hour would be Beau or Daniel.
She opened the door and nearly gasped, but her eyes widened instead. There in the doorway stood to her what appeared to be Luke's doppelgänger, or twin. But how? Luke had never mentioned a twin to her. She gaped at him, unable to form a sentence. But she didn't recognize him.
"Marina..." Jai breathed out, his eyes locking with hers.
