Day 4 – Marketing Products Online
We now have a store, but it's not making any sale. What do we do next? We market our products. Where do we do that? Well, online, mostly. We have a lot of choices. You can go to Facebook Ads, Google Adwords, Aweber, and a whole lot more. Just google them.
Okay, so on the Discounts section of my online store account, there was some sort of promo for using Google Adwords. You get a certain credit for spending a certain amount. I generated a code and went to Google Adwords to learn how it works. How to make an ad campaign, I learned about keywords and such.
I prepaid my account that would last two months' worth of advertising at a minimum daily rate. I'm still not sure if that was good decision on my part. Maybe it was bad, after all. I keep asking myself, should I have gone all out on the first week and spent them all?
Anyway, so I have this code from Shopify. Only Google adwords is not accepting it. Something about the code not matching the country or something.
Oh yeah, the first three days I keep changing the addresses on my account. Why? Because there were billing address, shipping address and whatnot. I live in one country, my drop shipping source is from another country. The shipping cost would be calculated based on the drop shipper's address and my label is from my country. Messed up, right? So, in the end, my billing address was my country, shipping address and label address is the drop shipper's country.
Thing is, I might have used the drop shipper's address for my billing address when I generated the Adwords promo code. Now it's messed up and I can't even claim the $50 credit. Whatever. I contacted Shopify Support and they taught me a bunch of things. Still didn't work, though. I might hear from them soon. I seem to experience things that they haven't encountered yet. Another was on Day 30.
So yeah, I have campaign ads on Google Adwords. I also tried Facebook Ads. These were like... recommended by Shopify, you know. They have sections there for Facebook pixel and Google Analytics. And the promo for Google Adwords. Whatever.
I also created a Facebook page for the online store, more exposure, I thought. And then the Facebook Ads. Now I learned a lot during these days.
On Day 5, I learned the better use of Facebook ads. Sort of.
