“Have the courage to live. Anyone can die.” ~ Robert Cody

My breathing was becoming uneven and I was barely able to move my body. I felt as if I was giving up, especially on my sister. I needed to let her know how proud I was of her before I was unable to tell her at all. So, I reached out to Safari.

“Safari, I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of you. You did a fine job out there…-pause- for your first time.”

She giggled. “Wow, thanks Sis! I love you too!” She said this with as little sarcasm her brain would let her. I started to laugh at her but stopped. I held my ribs wanting the pain to vanish. I suddenly became pleased, realizing that Safari’s and I relationship was back to normal.  I then heard foot steps approaching and a gasp soon followed.

“Oh my God! Valkyia!” I crooked my head to the side and saw Safari running towards me with a look of concern and disbelief. I forced a smile upon my face.

“Well hello to you too sunshine.” I replied, jokingly. I suppressed a laugh. Not a first-rate thought on my part. It felt as if my stomach was being twisted inside out. I gripped my abdomen and groaned in pain.

“This is not the time to be joking, Valkyia! You might as well be on the brick of death!” Yeah, and I feel like it too…But right now I think she is being just a tad over-dramatic.

“Safari, please don’t make a scene. See. I’m fine.” I struggled to stand on my own and only made two feet before I started falling. Luckily, Safari was right there to grab hold of me.

“I think at this point I’m allowed to be ‘over-dramatic’.” Safari whispered sadly it broke my heart.

“I’m not going to die Safari. Now lead the way and get me to a physician.” All she did was nod her head. I leaned most of my weight on her as we began walking.

The world was still spinning around me yet I didn’t say anything. Come a few minutes later I started to break down. Stopping Safari from going any further, I gripped on to her arm I was holding on to tighter. By this time we were right in front of the entrance; some of wolfs were starring, gasping, or even whispering to the one next to them. They also normally don’t see a female Alpha, and in there case one that is torn to shreds.

“What’s the matter Sis?” My breathing began to quicken. It felt like I couldn’t inhale. Gasping for air, water began to form in my eyes...

“It’s alright, I’m right here Valkyia.” My sister said this while tears cascaded down her pale cheeks. She slowly knelt down, lowering us to the ground. That feeling, the feeling of the life being sucked out, was growing stronger, as for I was getting weaker. I gasped for air more often, faster even. I started to cough up blood.  People began to scream for help or a doctor, one of them including my sister.

“P-Please, Valkyia don’t l-leave me!” she said with tears rolling down her cheeks rapidly.  She nudged me lightly. As Alpha I had to be strong for her and the pack. Nodding my head at her, I gave my reply “I won’t. I promise.” I inhaled, my lugs begging for air to return to them. My body felt like it was on fire, from my body trying to heal itself or just from the immense pain, I began to tremble. “I won’t die…” Tears slid down my face as I sent the message through our link causing more tears to come form my sister’s bloodshot eyes. Safari was sobbing loudly, rocking me back-and-forth. Wolves from my pack gathered around and look at my sadly. Wolves’ form the other packs keep their distance but also obtained a sorrowful expression. If only they could help me. Is there a doctor in the house?

“Excuse me, pardon me, would you- Oh my dear Child! Valkyia!” I knew who it was and it was the person I need to see; Julia. I tried to say something but it just ended in more gasping and coughing. She rushed toward my sister and myself. She held out her hands to tell me to stop.

“Don’t bother my Child. Here let me help.” She removed her shirt, I’m guessing she received when they arrived, and wrapped it around my major wound, causing my stomach pain to increase tenfold. I let out a small yelp of pain.

“Valkyia, I need you to stay conscious.” Julia also began to cry some but still sustained her task in helping out. I just nodded, trying to keep my breathing under control.

“Now Safari, I need you to run to the medical center and let them know we are on our way. Can you do that?” Julia asked her softly.

“Y-Yes, of c-course.” She said between hiccups.

“Now Valkyia remember to keep you promise. I’ll see you soon.” With those last words she kissed me on the forehead and took off. “I love you.” I told her though our thoughts. My eyelids started to feel heavy. Julia snapped her fingers at me.

“Valkyia, I need you to stay with me. Come on, the others and I are going to carry you.” She spoke for the first time without tears. I nodded; it seemed like all I could do. She and the others helped me up. I could feel gazes as we slowly headed to our destination. I was about to give my thanks to them but before a word could leave my lips, I began to see black spots in my vision.

“Julia, I c-can’t…” those were the last words I spoke before being engulfed into never ending darkness.
