Am I a hopeless cause?  

Nuriel held her hand and looked deep into her eyes, May couldn't look away but there's a part of her that doesn't believe that his heart is true to her. His heart belongs to someone else

"We need to talk about this" he whispers

"We shouldn't" she replies, trying to look away "It's not me"

before he could reply, Debra and Gemma appeared. The both of them looked curious but then smiled teasingly "Ooh things are getting tense here" Debra spoke up, Gemma coughed and glared at Debra " We should go May, Calissa found a carriage for us"

May nodded and tried not to look at Nuriel, everything seems blur right now

"The defect is still in Panyam Village" Calissa announced happiness

" You did well Calissa" May says proudly

Calissa blushed " My idol just complimented me" she whispers to herself 

Gemma and Debra exchanged amused glances 

"This girl was terrified at first then she's like going crazy over a compliment"

While the other passengers were talking among themselves, May's thoughts were lost at the present, she starts to touch her chest and feels the sound of her chest, it was beating fast and the way Nuriel looked at her made her feel strange inside

"Are you okay? Are you in pain?" Debra's voice was concern

"Maybe it was always like this for us"  May tells herself "We're just not right for each other"

then the carriage made a stop, Debra and Calissa stuck their heads out 

"This isn't right" Calissa mutters "Panyam Village has a big tree but where is the tree-" 

before she could say more suddenly the carriage stopped. The girls peeked outside and saw angry villagers walk towards them carrying shovels

"Are they human?" May whispers

"Sort of,  they are half elf, you can tell by their pointy ears" Calissa replies "They have a thing for vampires-Ah" she looks at Gemma

Gemma rolls her eyes "Just tell them we are passing by and get it over with" as she enters inside the carriage

Calissa greets the halflings, they didn't look interested "Panyam village is long gone" one of them says scornfully 

"How did this happen?" Calissa was in utter shock " We visited that village a year ago!"

"It was destroyed by one of ours" a young man with more human features with striking blue eyes spoke up

"That's our Mayor, Felceso" one girl proudly says 

"Falceso, she was not one of ours!" one old lady cries "She is abomination!"

May heard the ruckus outside she opened the carriage and stepped down, the halflings were quiet when she appeared

"Who is this abomination" she asks with authority 

"Eloria Vaanschwer, an outcast born in our lands. She moved to Panyam Village to seek redemption and we have not heard from her until Panyam Village was swallowed by fire"

"Why do you think it's her?"

"Ever since she was a child, she has an ability to create fire out of thin air. Her step mother was afraid if we knew we would banish her. We halflings do not have powers of fire, we are close to the water spirits but sooner or later we found out when...." she looks at the Mayor with contempt 

"Okay, so lead us to your village and we can help you" May says

" How can we trust you?" the old lady asks slyly

"I'm a Facade, she's one of my targets. I'll clean her up before she cleans your village through fire" 

the halflings quickly agreed and led the carriage to their little village called "Ibarra" .

Two couples received their guests warmly and showed them to their rooms. It was simple, with small beds and a small lamp on a table. They also served 2 pieces of loaves and butter, they thanked them kindly as the couples left

"They seem so. . . great" Debra commented while taking the bite off the loaf "Do you want some Gemma?"

"No, but I will go hunting tonight" Gemma turns to May "Are you coming too? We might run in to some other vampires that you can feed on besides me"

"W-what? I can't do that!" May refused quickly

Gemma sighs "Listen May, you are not strong enough to battle this defect. She's a firestarter and you haven't fed for... a very long time so you might lose to her" 

"She's right you know" Debra spoke in " You gotta feed off those bad vampires, who knows if your Facade instinct kicks in, you might end up hurting Gemma" 

Clarissa made no statement but it was obvious that she was shook with the conversation and then she remembered something

"Bandits!" she almost cried

"What?"

"Bandits of this place are vampires! Ugh I remember them, since these halflings are mesmerized by these vampires they would do whatever they want to please them whether giving up their cattles or any kind of livestock and if they don't have any they would just give themselves for supper -" 

"-I'm eaaaattting" Debra seethed waving a piece of bread in front of her

"Definitely will be feeding off the bad apples for today" May says while her eyes turned gold "Let's go Gems"
