"Oh god Pete!" I was barely able to say. "I-I'm so glad you're h-here."
"Patrick!" he said again as he put his arm on my back. "What the hell happened?"
"I-I just walked downstairs this morning and I sat on the couch a-and watched tv and fell asleep a-again. I-I woke up a w-while later when I-I felt a sharp a-ass pain in my back and s-side," I explained, straining a lot. "A-And it's getting progressively worse."
"Patrick, honey," he said. "How far apart are they?"
"U-Um, they're a good f-four minutes apart," I said, beginning to feel another one coming on, making me grab Pete's hand and scream.
Sadly, I was to the point where the contractions were almost a minute long. This is the worst pain I've ever felt and having it every four minutes and counting was making me almost sick. I was never one to handle pain well, and this was definitely putting that to the test.
"Oh god," Pete said. "Babe, you're lucky we don't live far from the hospital. I'm calling Joe and Andy and having them drive us. You can't sit in the back by yourself."
"O-Ok," I stuttered.
"Does it really hurt that bad, hun?" he asked as he dug his phone out.
"G-God yes," I said. "This is the w-worst pain I-I've ever felt."
"Aww," Pete said with a saddened expression.
I knew he felt bad watching me go through this, but hell, I was only glad because I knew it wasn't him having to go through this unbearable pain. God, I can't wait for this to be over.
I watched Pete out of the corner of my eye while he finally got his phone out and called Joe and Andy frantically. In the middle of his conversation, I had another contraction and screamed louder than I had with the others.
"Yeah, that was Patrick," Pete said. "Alright, just please hurry. I don't think this is going to last much longer without something bad happening."
Bad? God, this could get worse? Lovely! I seriously still hadn't moved more than an inch since this started happening over an hour ago. The pain is too unbearable for me to handle it.
"Ok, Joe and Andy are on their way, so you've got about another few minutes to wait this out until we're on our way to the hospital," Pete said as he jogged back over to me. "God, I wish I could take this all away from you. I can't stand seeing you like this."
"Pete, t-trust me, you don't w-want this," I said. "I don't want y-you ever having to g-go through this p-pain."
"Baby," Pete said. "And why didn't you call Joe or Andy before this?"
"I-I couldn't move from t-this spot," I said. "Not even t-the few feet t-to the table to get m-my phone."
"God, I should have been here," he said.
"Pete, don't fe-," I started to say before I got cut off again by another contraction, making me scream again and grab Pete's hand tighter than ever.
"God, Joe and Andy need to get here now," Pete said, and just after that, we heard a car door slam and then a knock on the door.
