What just happened? Did I seriously just have a baby? Did that really just happen or am I dreaming? I can't be.
I moved my hands down my body and I didn't have that baby bump anymore. This must be real. It has to be! Now if only I could open my eyes... But I can't. I've been trying, but the medicine or whatever the hell they gave me is still wearing off, but I hope I'll be awake soon. I've got to see Pete and our little girl!
Now that I think of it... Pete and I only discussed names... We never decided. We can't have a nameless baby! I was nameless for a good few hours after I was born. I can't let that happen to my little girl. I'd feel terrible actually...
God, I really need to wake up... Please, just please, let me open my eyes... Let there be Pete standing in front of me with a little baby in his arms...
"Patrick! You're awake!" someone said.
I blinked my eyes a few more times and who did I see? Definitely not Pete. It was Joe and Andy.
"H-Hey guys," I said as I smiled. "Where's Pete?"
"He's outside talking to the nurse," Joe answered.
"How are you feeling?" Andy asked.
"Pretty good actually. Sore and tired, but good," I said. "It's better than what I was experiencing before this."
"I bet," Andy said. "You sounded like you were in so much pain."
"It hurt like a bitch," I said as I chuckled.
"Well, on the bright side," Joe said as he opened the door slightly, enough for him to peak his head around. "Pete's back!"
And with that being said, Joe opened the door all the way and Pete walked in with the biggest smile on his face I'd ever seen. Joe and Andy smiled as well and then left the room.
"Patrick!" Pete said as he practically ran to me and hugged me.
"God, I missed you," I said as I hugged and kissed him.
"You did good," he said.
"You were a great help," I said.
"You were so strong and I don't even know if I could have gone through that," he said.
"It was difficult, but I did it all for you and the baby," I said.
"Speaking of a baby..." a nurse said as she walked in with a little cart.
My heart instantly started going a million miles an hour. My, well our, baby was feet in front of me. It was only seconds before I could hold her for the first time. My baby. A little human that I had, that has my DNA. This is truly a touching moment.
I watched the nurse gently pick the baby up from the cart and walk over to me. I knew I had a huge ass smile plastered on my face and it even made Pete chuckle a little. I had figured he'd already held the baby, so the spotlight was all on me.
"Congrats," the nurse said as she handed the little girl to me. "She was a week premature, but nothing is wrong with her. She's perfectly healthy at a good weight of eight pounds, six ounces."
"Thank you so much," I said as I took the baby from her.
She smiled and walked out and that's when I realized that I was holding my little baby girl in my arms for the first time. This was it. Pete and I have a child now, and by the looks of it, she's more than perfect. I'm so in love already.
I looked at her and she opened her eyes. I even felt a little tear run down my cheek, which Pete wiped away as he smiled. She was looking straight at me. God, even for a big baby, she seemed so tiny. Her little nose was adorable and her little hands, god. She was so cute! She was moving her arms, but stopped and held onto my finger with her tiny little hand after a minute or two.
"Pete," I said as I let another tear escape.
"She's perfect, isn't she?" he asked as he smiled and walked over by us again.
"More than," I said as I chuckled through my tears.
"God dangit, Patrick," Pete said as he wiped a tear that had fallen down his cheek.
"Is Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz the Third crying?" I asked.
"Ok, I do have some soft spots! Especially when I see my boyfriend holding our little girl," he said as he chuckled.
"Pete," I said as I smiled again.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"What are we going to name her?" I asked.
"I know we didn't decide on a name, but I really like the name Emily," Pete said.
"Holy smokes! Pete! That's perfect!" I said as I smiled big again.
I looked down at our little angel. Our little gift from above. Little Emily. Little Emily Stump. She's completely perfect.
"What do you think?" I asked her. "You like Emily?"
She looked up at me with her big eyes and I swear to god she smiled at me... Then little Emily Stump it is.
