God, seeing Patrick holding our little baby girl, Emily, for the first time brought tears to my eyes. And geez, when he asked her if she liked Emily for a name and she smiled at him, that was about the cutest thing I'd ever seen in my entire life. My life feels complete now, no, scratch that, it will after something else...
"God, I can't get over how perfect she is," Patrick said as he looked her and smiled again.
"Neither can I," I said as I smiled at the two of them.
"You know, the nurse said that you could take the blanket off of her if you really want," I said.
Patrick smiled at me and he gently lifted Emily up and tugged the blanket off of her little body. He didn't know where to go with the blanket, so I laughed a little and took the blanket from him. I walked over to the little cart she came in in, with my back turned to Patrick. I turned around when I heard him gasp.
"You ok?" I asked.
"P-Pete," he said as he pointed to Emily's outfit.
"What?" I asked as I smirked.
"A-Are you asking what I think you're asking?" he asked.
He was still pointing to Emily's little pink outfit. Want to know what got Patrick so excited and shocked though? There was a little ribbon on Emily's outfit that I bought while I was with my mom and dad, so I got the bright idea to use the ring I was going to propose to Patrick with and tie it onto the ribbons. So when Patrick took the blanket off, he'd see that shirt that said, "Will you marry my daddy?" and see the ring inches below.
"Yes," I said as I walked over to the both of them and gently untied the ring from the ribbons.
I looked at Patrick and then got down on one knee. I looked at Patrick again and smiled.
"Patrick Vaughn Stump, will you marry me?" I asked.
"Holy smokes, Pete!" he said as another tear escaped his eye. "Gosh, yes, a million times yes."
I smiled at him and then got up and slid the ring onto his finger. Then I gently leaned in and kissed him deeply. After I was done, I looked back at Em and she was smiling at the both of us.
"God, she's going to fit in with us perfectly," I said as I smiled back her and held her little hand in mine.
