Kyle's POV:"When I was 10 my mom and I were driving back from a birthday party and we were singing Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley. It was one of our favorite songs and we always got really into. It started to rain and so my mom was driving a little slower than usual since she couldn't see very well. We were coming around the bend when out of nowhere a truck came and slammed into us. The car started spinning and we went through the guardrail. The water broke our fall but the car started filling with water so quickly. I couldn't get my seatbelt off and I started panicking. My mom helped me out she brought me to the surface but then she said she needed to get something out of the car...it was important. She went back down into the water but this time she never came back up. I waited and waited but I never saw her again. The next thing I know the police arrived as well as an ambulance. They were trying to take me away but I kept telling them she's in the water, they need to save her. They went in but they never found her. They said she might've hit her head on the way down and lost consciousness causing her to drown. The current must have taken her away. They went back with scuba divers to widen the search but she was just...gone."
I didn't realize I was crying until Cassia wiped away a falling tear. I couldn't believe I just shared that with her. I haven't talked to anyone about what happened to my mother since it happened. I always just kept it to myself, but talking to Cassia is just so easy it's like I feel I can tell her anything and she won't judge me. In her eyes I can see that's she's had it rough and can understand the weakness I feel when I talk about my mother. It's been almost nine years since it happened and I'm still plagued with nightmares of that day.
"Kyle...I'm so sorry that happened to you."
"It's okay, it wasn't your fault."
"Will you tell me about her? If you want, I don't mean to make you upset or anything."
" I don't mind. She was the best person I new and the best mom I could've ever asked for. She was originally from Greece and every year since I could remember she would take me to this carnival that they had there. It was amazing the performances and attractions that they had blow away anything they have in the ones here."
" I've never been to a carnival before so I really can't imagine what it's like."
"What!? You've never been to a carnival before that's crazy, you'll definitely have to go one day."
"Yeah, maybe someday. Will you tell me more about your mom?"
" Sure. She use to tell the most amazing stories with funny voices to go with it. I remember waking up on Saturday mornings and going down to the kitchen where she would be making breakfast and then after she would start baking cookies and stuff. I would get to help her even though I made more of a mess than anything but she wouldn't mind she would just laugh it off. Once my father came in and found us on the floor laughing while covered in flour. Sh-"
Suddenly I hear a sniffle and look at Cassia and notice she's in tears.
"Cassia, what's wrong?"
"You're mother she sounds so wonderful."
"She was, but I don't understand why you're crying, please, tell me what's wrong?" Instead of a response all I get is more tears. Instinctively I wrap my arms around her and try to comfort her. Then I remember something Marco told me.
"Cassia...why do you live with your Aunt?"

Cassia's POV:
The next morning I awake to the sound of the curtains being opened. I am then greeted by the large rays of sunshine coming through the window.
"Good morning Miss.Lane"
