Cassia's POV:

"How?"

"Well after some thought about it I realized that your grades were the highest in your class and that could easily get you a scholarship but, that wasn't enough I wanted you to be able to get into any college you choose. So I did some research and noticed that average students at Brillington got into amazing schools and then it hit me if they can then some one as smart as my niece could as well. I got your transcripts as well as a few letters of recommendation and went to see the dean. After he looked over it all he was very impressed and said the school would be honored to have such a bright student on full scholarship of course."

"That's absolutely amazing! Thank you so much Aunt Millie."

"Anything for my favorite niece."

"I'm your only niece."

"Exactly"

At this moment so many things are running through my head. First I am extremely grateful to my aunt for making this all possible. Second I've heard rumors about how the students treat scholarship kids. It makes me wonder what it's going to be like there, not that I really care what people think. The way I see it this world is everyone for themselves except for family. Putting that all aside I am genuinely excited to think in just two weeks time I will be attending the most elite school in the US.

"Emily are you enjoying your chocolate cake?"

"Yes I am Caswia."

"Thank you for dinner Aunt Millie it was absolutely delicious."

"I am glad you enjoyed it I know that we don't get to eat out much but this was a very special occasion."

Once we finished all of our meals Aunt Millie paid the check and I took Emily to the restroom. On our way out I noticed that someone was staring at me I looked back to see who it was and saw it was a boy. He looked about my age and he had the most amazing piercing blue eyes I had ever seen. I mean I could stare at them forever and never get bored. Wait, what am I saying I don't even know the kid and I probably won't ever see him again oh well. We got in the car and started to drive home. Twenty minutes later we were back home and I was already for bed. I got under the covers on the couch and thought back on the events of today and the last thing I remember before drifting off to sleep were those piercing blue eyes.

* Dream *

"You are so beautiful."

"I am?"

"Yes of course you are love. Can't you see it?" He said pointing to the mirror before us. I looked in front and the girl in the mirror looked almost exactly like me except she was stunning. Her brown hair was done beautifully and her dress hugged her body perfectly. Her makeup was done up but not exaggerated. She looked naturally beautiful but that can't be me I could never even afford anything like this it just can't be me.

"What are you thinking Cassia?"

His voice broke me out of my trance. Who was he? Just looking at him I knew was handsome but why was he talking to me? Why do I feel safe near him or like I already know him. He turns me around to face him and we are so close I can feel his breath on my cheek. I look up to his eyes and I see that he is looking at me in a way that no boy has ever look at me. I see him leaning in getting closer and closer until we are just inches apart and then it hit me those piercing blue eyes!

"BEEP BEEP BEEP!!" Stupid alarm I jolted up still with the image of his beautiful eyes in my head. It was 9:30 I had get up and ready it was Saturday which meant park day for Emily and I. I got up brushed my teeth I put on my clothes for the day. Then I woke up Emily since Aunt Millie left for work early this morning. That reminds me I need to stop in and see Lucy today she wanted to talk to me.

"Emily breakfast is ready."

"Otay."

"Are you excited to go to the park?"

Her eyes lit up and she nodded happily. Emily loved the park and I enjoyed taking her, we sit on the swings side by side and go up as high I as we can. After she finished her cereal I grabbed her bag and then mine and we were out the door. Luckily the park isn't that far from our apartment just about a ten minute walk.

2 hours later…

“Emily are you ready to go visit Lucy and your momma?”

“YES!”

“All right lets get going.”

We started to walk and not even five minutes pass by before we arrive at Lucy’s Salon. I am so grateful its practically in front of the park. Once we are inside the aroma of freshly brewed coffee hits my nose and instantly feel more relaxed. That is one of the things that I admire about Lucy, even though her salon isn’t in one of the higher end sides of town she treats all her clients like royalty.

“Cassia! Emily! I am so glad you guys could make it.”

“Hi Lucy. Aunt Millie said you wanted to see me. I hope everything is okay?”

“Emily why don’t you go say hi to your momma, she is right over there.”

“Otay!”

“Well first of all I hear congratulations are in order. Millie told me how you will be attending Brillington Academy this year.”

“Yea I’m actually really excited I start in two weeks but, I am still nervous.”

“Don’t be your smarter than anyone of those kids.”

“Thanks Lucy but that’s not why I’m nervous.”

“Then why are you nervous sunshine”

“Its just that all the students at that school are all very wealthy and I am there on scholarship. I know how that is going to go I’ve heard all the rumors, last year there was a sophomore who attended Brillington on scholarship and after just one month she ran out of there crying begging her mom to put her back in her old school. I just don’t want that to be me Lucy.”

“Cassia that will never be you sweetie. You are the strongest and bravest young lady I know and to top it all off your are the brightest. Now as for the money issues that brings me to what I wanted to talk to you about. I wanted to offer you a job as my new receptionist, what do you say?”

“Oh My Goodness! Are you serious Lucy, what about Gaby?”

“Sadly Gaby is moving away and wont be able to continue working with us. So when Millie told me about you going to Brillington I just knew this would be perfect for you!”

“Absolutely yes! Thank you so much Lucy. This definitely helps calm my nerves a bit. At least I will be able to get the same uniform as the rest of the students so they can’t say anything about them.”

“Great you can start first thing tomorrow morning and Emily can stay in the play area while you and Millie work.”

Soon we finished talking and me and Emily began to walk back home. I can not believe all the good things that have happened to me in just two days. It makes it seem as though thing might actually finally be getting better instead of worse. So for the fist time in a long time I’m genuinely smiling and it feels great.
