Chapter 15:
Kyle's POV:
I look up and see Cassia and the little girl walk out the door. I'm not sure what is going on there but I'm 99% sure Cassia never had a kid. It would have come up when James looked into her. So who is that little girl and why does she call Cassia mommy? The more strange things that come up about Cassia the more I want to know. Why the hell is this happening? What is it about her? It's clear she wants nothing to do with me but it only makes me want to know her more.
"So Kyle, how about you?" I look up at James not sure what the hell he is talking about.
"What?"
"The Talent show. You going?" Oh that's what he's talking about. Why the hell would I want to do that, let alone go to it. Although, there might be some interesting female performances. Hmm, definitely something to consider.
"Man I don't know, maybe"
"Crystal will likely be performing and want you there. Are you guys hooking up again? Chelsea said she saw you leaving her condo late the other night."
Crystal. That was the stupidest thing I ever did. Why did I go to her place? Sex, that's why. Do I really think that will make me feel better? I guess in the moment it does but after, I go back to feeling like this. Why am I such a dumbass? Maybe Cassia is right not to want to know me...but I want her too. What am I supposed to do?
Mom, what is wrong with me?
"You want to be better."

Cassia's POV:
Today is the day! I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. I can't wait to start my job at the library, there is nothing like being surrounded by people's endless thoughts and ideas, not to mention their knowledge. Plus as strange as it is I love the smell of books especially the older ones. It's like you can just smell the history coming off the page and it's absolutely incredible.
After first period, I head straight to the library to meet Mrs. Shultz, the school librarian.
"Hello?"
"Just a moment." I hear a voice call out but I'm not sure where it came from. I stand by the front desk and wait when suddenly a lovely looking woman comes from behind the corner.
"Ah, you must be Cassia, right?"
"Yup that's me. Are you Mrs.Shultz?"
"We are going to be spending quite a bit of time together, so please call me Margaret."
"Alright then, hello Margaret my name is Cassia." I hold out my hand to her and she shakes it a curious look upon her face.
"It's so wonderful that they hired you to help me around here. I've been in dire need for some time now."
"I was so happy to hear about my placement here as well. I absolutely love reading. It helps the time move so quickly. I'm happy to help in anyway I can!"
"Wonderful! It's so refreshing to see a young person such as yourself so enamored with books. Alright so your job here will mainly consist of manning the front desk. This will be your area and you may decorate it how ever you like. Up here on the top of the counter we display a book of the month. From now on it will be up to you what book that is. You will be responsible for assisting students in finding and checking out books as well as helping them reserve a study room if they need it. You will also need to fill the online reservations we get during any down time. If there aren't any reserves and no students need help, you may work on homework or read to your hearts content. With that said let me show you how to work our system." Margaret goes through all the steps of how to log into the system and how to check in and out books as well as how to check and fill book reservations.
