Meanwhile somewhere else in the world...
"F*ck!" I said. I couldn't see anything since I was 6ft under ground. In a coffin. I hit the top to see if there was anyway to get out but due to the charms and spells put on it, I couldn't even teleport out of the thing.
Annoyed, I closed my eyes thinking of how I could get out of the f*cking box. My phone. I pulled it out of my pocket of the suit that was put on me. Immediately, it started buzzing with notifications from people saying they missed me and sh*t. I ignored it then called the one person who I knew could help me.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
"Is this a joke? Because it's not funny to call me from by dead brother's phone," Seth answered.
"Hello to you too," I replied grinning at the sound of his voice.
I heard things drop in the background. "Sh*t. Hade? Is that you?"
"Yes it is. And I'm buried alive with barely any service. So can you get me out?"
"Yeah. But why the f*ck did you choose to come back on your birthday?"
"New Year. New me. Now, hurry up."
I hung up and waited to be dug out.
*****
3 hours later and the lid of the casket was removed. The world looked oddly bright compared to the Underworld even though it was 3 in the morning. Seth stood next to the coffin, staring at me with awe and shock. I sat up and inspected my surroundings.
"Why would dad give me a gold coffin? I was always a silver kind of guy," I said, brushing dirt off me as I climbed out.
"Hadrian, how are you f*cking alive? I saw you die." My brother looked tortured. I patted his back.
"I'll explain in the limo. Graveyards creep me out."
"You're the angel of death," he pointed out.
"So? You're the angel of fear and you're scared of rabbits."
Seth pretended that didn't hear me then walked out of the cemetery. I followed him to where it was parked and entered inside. He signalled to the driver that he could go. I summoned a mirror and began sorting out my appearance. I took off the suit jacket and rolled up the sleeves of my collar shirt. However, I unbuttoned it to check if I had any scars from where Noah stabbed me. Nope, eight pack still there with no scars.
"Hadrian, can you explain now?"
I nodded and buttoned my shirt. "Well, you know the basics. Noah stabbed me. I die. He dies. Obviously, he would die because angels can't kill angels. I die because I was mortal. We both go to hell. It's really hot down there by the way. Demons start ripping him up, get drunk on his blood and all that. I get dragged out by Alecto and her sisters. Who, may I add, are very pretty but we're related apparently."
"Can you get to the point?"
"I am. So she like "You've paid the price so you're now a full angel". I get a pair of wings. Then I go through two years of being trapped in the underworld until I'm old enough to be crowned so I can come to the underworld and earth whenever. And here I am."
Seth blinked at me. I smirked at him and raked my hair with my hand. Then I remembered that I didn't want to be found. I willed my hair to turn dirty blond and my eyes to turn brown.
"What are you up to now?" Seth finally said, suspiciously.
"I don't want people to know I'm alive yet."
"So what are you going to do until you decide to reveal yourself?"
I winked at him. "It's my birthday and I'm 20. The world's my oyster, bro."
I disappeared to find myself outside a club which had girls tripping over their heels and guys talking louder than necessary. I skipped the line and walked straight in followed by the complaints of the people waiting. The darkness of inside hid the fact my dress pants were changing into jeans.
The place was full of people dancing to the beat of the music with waitresses that were definitely not classified as uniform. I made my way up the stairs to the next floor which was a sort of lounge where you could talk in private. I sat down near the back watching the humans dance ecstatically. A young waitress came up to me in a dress that hardly covered her ass.
"Hi. Would you like anything to drink?" She asked.
I slowly trailed my eyes from my feet to her eyes to see her blushing. "Why don't you sit down and tell me some options."
The girl sat down hesitantly and started reciting some of the options. She talked animatedly, her pale blue eyes slightly dilated. I interrupted her. "When do you get off work?"
"Erm... Now?"
I got up and pulled her with me. I saw another of the waitresses then called to her.
"You there! Can you clock..." I looked at the girl I was holding hands with not sure what her name was.
"Lauren," she helped.
"Yeah. Clock her out please."
I didn't wait for a response and dragged Lauren out of the club. Once we were far enough no one could see us, I gently pushed her against the wall. She tilted her head to look into my now brown eyes and let out a small moan.
Just one night. That's it. With that in mind, I pressed my lips to hers.
