Liam's POV
"Son, if I've taught you something, it would be to never take your mind off you what you love" my father said as we drove into the town to drop off our new shipment of food to the shelters. I love volunteering wherever I can do to help other people. My father and I bring half of the crops we plant into the town to sell and give to people who have little to eat. I live with my Mother, Father and my two sisters but they live with their husbands on the other side of town but come to visit everyday. My mom works in the town hospital as a nurse and my sisters help out at the children centers. Me? I've finished school and came to work with my Father.
Alright, Liam let's get going" he said as we pulled up in front of the market. We got everything set up and ready to sell when I heard my name being called. Turning around, I saw my friend, Niall Horan, coming my way. "Hey Niall, how's it been?" I asked him. "It's been good, business is also good with the wine shop and you?" he asked as he helped me put some of the boxes on the stand. His family owns one of finest wine shops in all of Ireland, and trust me it's to die for. "It's been going good, you know, but did you hear about Harry?" he shook his head no. "How is he since the split?" Niall asked me. Harry was one of our best friends and he owned the towns bakery with his family. He had a fiancée but she broke it off within 2 months and ran off with a prince a few months back.
"He's actually doing well, I supposed and enjoying life so he's doing a lot better" I told him and he smiled. "That's good to hear, I still can't believe what happened though" "Me neither, it's like the Royals don't care who they take as long as they have something we want, they always win, just a bunch a stuck up people if you asked me" I told him honestly and he nodded. "Well, I ought to be heading back, it's almost noon and you know how people get when that happens" we both laughed and hug before he ran off.
It had been hours later, when my Father and I decided to pack up and leave. We made a decent amount of money that could last us for at least 3 months. Once we were home at our 3 story stone house, I went up to my room and took a shower before putting on another set of clean clothes. Going over towards the window, I saw it. The royal castle of the King and Queen about 20 miles a way. Its been said, they have a daughter around my age though I have never seen her before. Even though, I've always had a hatred towards those people, I always wondered what it would be like to have such a high status amongst the people. But I wouldn't trade my life in for any of it.
"Liam honey, dinner is ready" I heard my mothers voice say from downstairs. Breaking away from the window and heading downstairs, the smell of my mothers cooking made my mouth water. "I hope you're hungry because I made beef stew with potatoes" she said setting the giant pot on the dinner table. My sisters and father were already seated at the table so I gladly joined them as my mother sat down giving prayer. We talked about our day while we ate our dinner and once we were done, Ruth and Nicole left to get home for bed. I stayed with mom to help clean up the kitchen. "You know, one of my coworkers has a daughter your age and I thought.." my mother started to say and I smiled. "Mom, I thank you but I'm okay" I told her and she sighed. "I just want you to be happy, Liam" "I am happy, mom, plus I'm not looking for anyone special right now" she then nodded her head knowing she couldn't convince me any further.
Once I was back upstairs in my room, I walked back over to the window to look at the castle. Might as well head on to bed and that was what I did. The next morning, I was up early and got dressed in a red plaited shirt with dark pants with black shoes. Brushed my teeth and washed my face then headed out the door towards the one place I go to think. I followed the familiar dirt trail until I heard the sound of running water. Finally, I arrived at the giant lake that separated the castle and the town. It was actually quite peaceful, I would say.
After a while, I began hearing a soft noise nearby. Out of curiosity I followed it silently. That's when I saw a girl playing what seems like a guitar. I could hear her softly singing to the tune of her guitar so I listened closely.
"Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as though their here to stay, oh I believe in yesterday" she sung and I was star struck.
Her voice was so beautiful that it was like an angel was singing. She continued with the song as I saw tears fall from her eyes.
"Why he had to go, I don't know he wouldn't say, I said something wrong now I long for yesterday oh yesterday Love was such an easy game to play now I need a place to hide away Oh I believe in yesterday" she finished and I could tell she's heartbroken by something.
I wanted nothing but to go over and comfort her, but she couldn't know I was spying on her. I took one step forward and snap! Her head flew up as she looked around. "Hello? Who's there?" she asked but I stayed quiet. I wouldn't want to scare her in anyway. She sighed and just looked away towards the lake. She looks at the castle and shakes her head.
"How could they do this to me? I can't marry a guy I don't know!" she told herself without knowing of the person behind her. She began crying and this time I went over and hugged her without thinking.
She gasped pulling away, "Who are you? Who sent you?" she asked standing up. I could see the fear and anger in her eyes yet at the same time she seemed relieved that it was me. "No one sent me, I was just-" I started to say. She cut me off "Spying on me and you expect me to believe no one sent you?" she said and I sighed.
"I was just coming down here to do some thinking but, when I saw you here singing and playing your guitar, I didn't want to disturb you" I explained to her and now she took her chance to sigh. "Oh, I must have sounded.." "Beautiful" I blurted out and she looked at me.
"Who are you?" she asked me once again but more calmly. "I'm Liam, Liam Payne" I introduced and she looked at me as if trying to remember something. "Payne? As in Geoff Payne?" she questioned and I nodded. "Thats my father, how do you know him?" I asked her. "He used to be friends with my Father" the girl said in a whisper. "What is your name if I may ask?" "Beth, Beth Gardena" she told me.
"Well, where are you from?" I asked sitting next to her on a rock. "What does it matter? I don't wanna go back to that place" Beth looked towards the water. "Wouldn't your parents worry?" I heard her scoff. "They're the reason, I'm here to begin with, my mother's husband is forcing me to marry a guy I don't even know" she explained with a sigh. Out of notice, I wrapped my arm around her shoulder for comfort.
She looked over at me and I could see her brown eyes. Very lovely and easy to get lost in. "Why are you being so nice to me? You just met me" she pointed out. I just shrugged "Cause that's the kind of guy I am, and I could tell you need a friend right now" I told her out of honesty. For the first time since I've been with her, she smiled.
All of a sudden there was a loud bell coming from the castle across the lake and her eyes widen before standing up. "I'm sorry, I have to go!" she yelled before taking her guitar. She stopped and looked at me. "I hope to see you soon, Liam" then she came and kissed me on the cheek and took off.
That was strangely odd.....and strangely I don't mind
