Shane's POV

Lilith tells me to express myself, but how other than singing should I? She screams at me if I so much as hum. But maybe this would be solved now. Somebody is here, so maybe I could be saved from this prison. Imprisoned in my own home. Aunt Jillian wouldn't have liked that.

----------------------------------------

Even though Lilith screeches her head off while I sing various music by The Band Perry, I don't care. I feel relaxed by having released emotion through song. Lilith is still yelling at me about it, when AUnt Jillian comes into the house.

Lilith's head snaps up, and I can't help the smile that grows on  my face. We both run to the kitchen doorway, where my aunt stands, holding her duffel bag and a bottle of water.

"You aren't supposed to be here yet!"

"Well, I got on an earlier flight so I could come see my daughter and nephew!" My kind aunt smiles, politely giving the retort to her older sister. Lilith is not satisfied. "Speaking of which, come give your favorite aunt a hug!" Jillian jokes with me.

Of course, I hug her, "You are my only aunt," she smiles at me.

"Are you still as much a singer as before I left?" Aunt Jillian and I used to sing until our faces practicaly turned blue. I had, of course, improved a lot since then.

I respond with, "Even more so now, than ever!" She laughs and breaks into song.

"Beyond the boundaries of your city's lights,

Stand the heroes waiting for your cries.

So many times you did not bring this on yourself,

When that moment finally comes,

I'll be there to help."

I join in.

"On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,

I'll be right here.

Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.

Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,

We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

When there are people crying in the streets,

When they're starving for a meal to eat,

When they simply need a place to make their beds,

Right here underneath my wing,

You can rest your head.

On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,

I'll be right here!

Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.

Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,

We'll always be ready because we will always be there...

There... there... there...

Hope and pray that you'll never need me,

But rest assured I will not let you down.

I'll walk beside you but you may not see me,

The strongest among you may not wear a crown.

On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,

I'll be right here!

On that day when you don't have the strength for the burden you bear,

I'll be right here!

Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.

Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,

We'll always be ready because we will always be there."

"Realy?" Lilith puts her hand on her hip and rolls her eyes. "We don't see you in over four years and the best you can come up with is Citzen Soldier?"

"Can't blame a girl for wanting to get back to hearing 3 Doors Down," Jillian makes an attempt to joke. "Where is my Tina, anyways?"

"Yeah, Mom. Where is Tina?" I probe.
