Shane's POV:

"Just let me walk! I don't care, I just need to go see her. I will run away if that is what it takes!" I shout at Lilith, holding her glare sincerely.

She just rolls her eyes at this. I have been saying that I would run away for three days now, since I have seen the painfully sullen and pale face of Cheyenne. Lilith tries desperately to thwart all of my attempts to go see Cheyenne again. I had to sneak out once, to sing her a single song, after walking home from the hospital visit that Lilith and I fought over.

"When is the next full moon?"

    "Next Tuesday. Why the he-"

"You may go see her for one hour. Sing or do whatever might wake her up."

I do not detect deception at these words, but this is Lilith, my mother. Weird questions or not, I was glad to go see Cheyenne. If she didn't wake up soon, she never would.

------------------------------------------

After the too long, too akward car ride with Lilith to the hospital, I am eager to hop out of her cherry convertible and get some fresh air on my way to Cheyenne's bed side.

I pass through all the protocols and procedures to get to the coma patient's ward. I quickly stride towards the only room currently being inhabited. After about five minutes of holding back tears about Cheyenne's stiff fingers, becuase it is my fault, a nurse comes in.

"Hello, Virginia," I say politely to the only nurse that ever seems to come into this section of the hospital. "Any news since last time?"

"Actually, yes." Virginia smiles widely, before running off to one of the many offices in this freezer of a basement. I only raise an eyebrow as she rushes out. I grasp Cheyenne's long, thin fingers in my own hands. The monitor next to the hospital bed beeps slightly faster as her heart rate must pick up slightly.

I am lost in thought, thinking back on the night on Devil's hill. The look in the unicorns eyes- Cheyenne's eyes- right before she stumbled from the hill. I had been so certain-

"Listen to this," Virginia grins wildly, as she sets a Toshiba one of the two chairs in the room. SHe presses play on an audio recording, and someone begins to sing.

"There's another world inside of me

That you may never see

There're secrets in this life

That I can't hide

Somewhere in this darkness

There's a light that I can't find

Maybe it's too far away...

Or maybe I'm just blind...

Or maybe I'm just blind...

So hold me when I'm here

Right me when I'm wrong

Hold me when I'm scared

And love me when I'm gone

Everything I am

And everything in me

Wants to be the one

You wanted me to be

I'll never let you down

Even if I could

I'd give up everything

If only for your good
