Shane's POV:

It is nearly midnight when the convertable pulls up in the driveway. My mother calls Tina and Father out, along qith my Uncle, Paul, to haul everything in. When I start to come out to help, Lilith shakes her head at me, giving a scowl that no mother should ever give their only son. Their only child. Then again, I was also a mistake, never meant to be brought into this world.

Cheyenne enters the cabin, barely fitting amongst her miniature entourage. She looks befuddled and overwhelmed. Who could blame her? Lilith was throwing her into peculiar circumstances after I had just tried to kill her, although I wasn't at complete fault there. I was completely unaware of the fact that she was only part-time unicorn!

Lilith starts to speak, at the exact moment that Cheyenne opened her mouth, about to say something to me.

"Your parents called while we were gone, Cheyenne," Lilith claims as she stands over the answering machine, the cordless landline in her shaky hand. "They said they went down state for family business. They want you to stay here for the night," Lilith finishes, and it all seems just to odd for me. I mean, weird things have happened before, but why would complete strangers entrust their unicorn daughter to a 'family' of unicorn hunters? Then again, if Cheyenne was the only one that had a foot in each side, then surely, my family wouldn't hurt her. Cheyenne herself said that she was an exception!

"Not that there is a problem with that, but how do they know they can trust you if you have never spoken before?" Cheyenne tries to word this carefully, non accusingly, but I don't miss the edge to her tone. SHe doesn't trust Lilith, and she has every right not to.

"We used to be collegeus!" Lilith wraps an arm around Cheyenne, which makes her once at the unwanted contact.

"Where will she sleep?" I am the first to launch off more questions.

"Your room, I think," Lilith gives me a malicious grin.

   "I don't think-" Cheyenne starts.

"How long will she be staying?" Tina asks, almost eager for a knider girl to be staying over for a while.

"I am not sure. Cheyenne's parents are supposed to call tomorrow morning." Lilith stalks off, leaving the rest of us to sort out our own problems, apparently.

There were still a few weeks of summer vacation left, so no one was worried about being up in the morning very early, and we all needed some sleep. Something told me that Cheyenne and I would not be sleeping tonight. She had made it obvious that she didn't want to sleep in my room. It sounded uncomfortable to me, so I offer to sleep on the couch.

"Nope, buddy," my father, Tim cuts me off. "I am sleeping on the couch! Your old ma' isn't particularly happy with me, tonight."

No one else was willing to move, so I was left with one option, since Lilith woulnd't allow Cheyenne to sleep on the floor, and it was to cold out at night to sleep in a car. I would have to sleep on the floor in my own room. While the unicorn I had tried to kill the night before slept in my bed, as a very, very . . . attractive girl my age. I wish I could deny those feelings, but keep your friends close, and your enemies closer, right?
