Oh crap. No, no, no!! Not Peeta! not the boy I owe my families lives to. The odds are NOT in my favor.

"And last but not least number 40 Jonathan Williams. Well what an exciting group of people. Looks like we have got some good fighters. I can't wait to see which ten get paired up in a unit. I see the curiousness in you you faces! Remember, only ten in a unit. Looks like I have a train to catch see you all next year, and, may the odds be EVER in your favor." Effie says in her abnormally peppy voice.

We are taken away by officials to the courthouse. There we have two hours with our family and friends before we are taken back to the training center for further instruction.

The first to enter is my mom and Prim. The first thing Prim does is curl up in my lap on the velvet couch. We both know she is to old for that but that doesn't matter at the moment.

"It's OK Prim Ill be ok. you don't have to worry Ill be back at Christmas. That's less them a year away." I say to calm her.

"Katniss how can you say that," Prim says through her tears. "Prim it's really will be ok," I reply. "How can you know that," she squeaks between tears, "what if you die?" She realizes what she said and it scares her. What if I die?

Prim sits up and try's to hold back the tears. She try's to distract herself by make patterns with her finger in the velvet of the couch.

She has grown up so much since she turned 12. I wish she didn't have to...

I am brought out of my thoughts by a military official saying my mother and Prim have 15 minutes until my next visitor is brought in.

Prim start crying next to me and buries her head in my chest. I comfort her for awhile but the I get up to talk to my mother.

"You can't tune out again. You are all Prim has left and you need to take care of her." I realize my voice has risen.

The next thing I know Prim and mom are being told to leave. Prim grabs on to me and I try I pry her off so the official doesn't have to.

Prim let's go realizing that is she doesn't she will have to be dragged out. I say my finale goodbyes and think to myself ''this may be the last time I see my sister.'''

The next person to see me is Gale. As soon as he walks in we embrace. He smells like the woods. A place I have been to millions of times. I'm pretty good at archery. Actually I'm amazing. I wonder if they will let me carry a bow in battle...

Gale lets go of me and his face is serious. I can tell what he is about to say. "I'm going to volunteer". "No" I say firmly. You can volunteer to join the military within two hours of your drafting. "You can't," I say. "If you do who is going to take care of Rory and Posy and Prim?" Gale and I have had a deal since we met at the memorial for are fathers unit, unit number 13579. Our deal is that if either of us get drafted, the other will do everything to keep their own family and the others family alive.

"But Katniss, if I volunteer in the next two hours I could possibly be in your unit." Gale says. He's serious.

"No" I say again. "Remember our deal." I can tell he does because he get quiet. Too soon, an official informs us that Gale has to leave and waits in the room as we say our final goodbyes. "You can't do it. Ok?" I tell him more than ask. "Fine" he replies but I can tell he's not satisfied. Gale is forced out of the room. "Katniss" he yells. "Gale, whatever you so don't let them starve" I say before the door shuts between us.

My last visitor takes me by surprise. The visit is so short it felt as if it never happened. After Gale left Madge walks in. She sits by me says hello and asks if I'm OK. Without waiting for an answer she places something in my hand; tells me as long as I have it nothing bad will happen to me, kisses me on the cheek and leaves.

I'm taken by surprise with everything that happened with Madge's visit that at first I don't even notice the officials that come to collect me. I am ushered to the training center where I will wait for further instruction.
