His smell, his posture, his laugh that you hear only once in a great while. How much I have missed him in these past two days. Now his name tastes like bile in my mouth. Gale.

I walk right up to him and just stand there. Arms crossed waiting. Then he sees me. His face goes ghost white. Good he's scared.

"I can explain," he starts. "Don't even. You promised, you lying son of a bitch. Why the hell would you even think to do this." I say. My voice get quiet, "what about Posy? Rory? Your mother?" His body tenses up. I hit a soft spot. "Don't you dare use them as an excuse."

I don't reply. I walk away. I don't even know where I'm going until I get there, and it makes perfect sense. All I can hope is that he is there.

I knock. "Come in" he says. I walk in. I'm suprised to see what he is doing. Watching TV. I've only watched TV twice in my life. Once to watch the news about my fathers death. It was the largest bomb ever recorded; and on the train, to watch the recaps of the draftings.

"You look upset. What's wrong?" asks Cinna. I don't even know where to start. "I don't know where to start," I say. He hugs me. I hug him back, taking in every bit of closeness I can get. I think I love Cinna. Like a father. Even though I have only known him for a short while it feels as if I have known him my whole life.

"That's ok, start at the beginning," he says. "If I where to start at the beginning it would start when I was 12 and met Gale." I say. Why don't you start with this afternoon. "Ok but first you need to know something. You know about my father, well Gales father died in the same bombing. After the bombing my mother, sigh, my mother tuned out, depression. Prim was only 6, she didn't understand. I took in upon myself to take care of my family, well Prim. Our mother wouldn't eat. I started to hunt illegally." As I continue all Cinna does is nod his head, truly listening. "That's when I met Gale. We found out our fathers where in the same unit. Died together. We became instant friends. Hunting illegally together, feeding our family's. About a month after training started we made a promise. We promised that if either of us got drafted the other would stay behind and take care of both our family's. He broke that promise Cinna, he did."

I bite my tongue and hold back the sob that is fighting is way out. Luckily Cinna breaks the silence. "In case you want to know, 3 hours after you left 12, they asked for more volunteers. He must have been one. I believe he is in a Mixed Unit." Cinna tells me. It doesn't make anything easier. Not at all.
