The silence seemed to linger for a few deadly seconds. You thought about Sarah, a responsible and very caring mother. You thought about how kind Dr. Doppler was to let you stay with him for a while when he saw you lost and not knowing about your surroundings, even about yourself. You thought about how Silver was slowly becoming someone you can trust, not to mention someone really familiar to you.
Then your thoughts wandered to Jim. He was the boy that made you feel safe and warm. You thought about how soft your relationship has become with him, as soft as your feelings especially. You thought he was a really great friend to you- he's annoying, blunt at times, but you and him often found times to have fun and talk about anything and everything. You thought about how warm your chest would feel when you were around him, or whenever he would smile in your direction.
You shook your head, burying it beneath your shoulders and finally snapping out of your thoughts. Your ears seemed to have gone blank for a moment because of a loud explosion. As your eyes darted from side to side, the world was still in slow motion. Jim's arms were tight around you, protecting you from impact. You realized Silver was covering the both of you too.
Then, as if a flash of light enveloped you, the world continued on in a normal pace once again. First it was dark, and you realized you were in a black hole. Though that only lasted a split second when suddenly the ship rode the last wave out of the vacuum!
You heard cheers of joy from your crewmates, and suddenly you felt incredibly light-weight. You realized it was because the ship was flying once again. You heard sounds of cloth released, and you looked up to see that the sails were released once again. You beamed, more than happy it was over. Silver patted you on the head and joined the rest to celebrate. You felt arms around you, and your eyes opened to see a mess of brown hair nuzzled on your shoulder. Your eyes widen and your cheeks dusted with red when you realized who it was; Turned out, Jim hugged you. It was tight, and he was laughing out his shock and relief. You couldn't help but hug him back, just as tight, and laugh along with him.
He gently let go, and his eyes widen at what he'd just done. He scratched the back of his neck and looked away, hiding his reddening cheeks. You giggled, looking away to hide yours aswell.
The laughter died down, but the relief and shock from the incident remained in everyone's faces. The captain walked down to the deck, chin up and proud of her crew's success.
"Yes, yes, we'll celebrate later," she shushed them, but her smile remains. "What's the status, Mr. Arrow?"
She looked around, and so did the rest of the crew. You looked around aswell, and suddenly a terrible feeling crept in your stomach. Something wasn't right. The crewmates suddenly parted, making a way for the Spider-Psycho, he brought something behind him. And the moment he pulled it out for everyone to see, the color drained from the captain's face. The Spider-Psycho held Mr. Arrow's hat.
"I'm sorry to say this, cap'n," the Spider-Psycho began, looking down, "but Mr. Arrow couldn't make it. His life line wasn't managed well."
