Okay, so I realize you people must hate me for taking so effing long to update. So, sorry about that. And I also realize that you're probably not going to read my garbage apology, so move on to the story:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A faint echo of pain reverberated throughout my body, mainly my hip. I felt exhausted. Every limb in my body resembled giant pieces of lead and I reminded myself of an overused puppet.
"Lily?" A concerned voice spoke. "Come on, Lily."
Nate.
My eyes snapped open, but instead of the simmering brown eyes I loved, I saw large and anxious blue eyes staring back at me. Lizzie.
"What happened?" I tried to sit up, but Lizzie held me down with one hand on my shoulder. She reached around her and placed a small bottle to my lips. I eagerly drank the water, relishing the cool relief as it swished down my dry throat, replenishing me.
"What happened?" I repeated my question.
She sighed, and tucked her hair behind an ear. Not once did she meet my eyes as she spoke. "We were attacked, Lily. By the rogues."
"Where's Nate?" I blurted out.
Confusion flitted across her delicate features. "Nate? The kid from the Council?"
Don't call him a kid, I wanted to say. Instead, I changed the subject. "Where is everyone? Are they still fighting?" We had to go help!
This time, Lizzie sighed in sorrow. "I don't know."
I sat up, lightning quick. My vision was momentarily speckled with black clouds, but I fought them off enough to focus on Lizzie's word. "You don't know? What do you mean?"
She started to pick at the hem of her electric blue dress. "I meant what I said. I don't know. I left you hidden here in the forest after I successfully got all the silver out of your system and I went to the pack house. But no one was there."
"So, what? Are you trying to say everyone fucking disappeared? People do not disappear like that, Lizzie! Where the fuck are they?! And you got the silver out of my system? How the hell did you do that? Only pack doctor's can do that!"
Lizzie grabbed my shoulders and spoke firmly, "Calm down, Lily. You're not helping anyone if you're emotionally flipping out. We just need to keep ourselves composed and-"
"Shut up! Our pack is out there, probably suffering at this moment for all we know and you want me to fucking compose myself?!" Nate could be in pain at this very moment. "I do not have time to go into a stupid zen mode! We need to help them! We need to do something! You are the worst Luna ever!"
I finished my rant, heavily breathing. Lizzie stares down at the forest floor. I didn't think she would reply, but she did. "I know."
"What?"
Her eyes met mine and I saw misery reflected in them. "I know I'm the worst Luna out there. It's because I wasn't even meant to be a Luna. Do you want to know why you hear those voices in your head, Lily? Do you want to know you feel possessed sometimes? Do you want to know why darkness plagues your mind 24/7? Because it's me."
I look fixedly at her, unwilling to believe any of this. She was the voice? She drove me to drown myself? She made me almost stab her in the middle of the night? Then that would mean that...she was darkness itself. But how?
