WOO-HOO! Werewolf #463 / Teen Fiction #935 :) I'm a happy person now.

Enjoy the update ~

My eyes shot open and I sucked in air, only to cough up water. A searing flame sparked to life in my lungs before suddenly dying down. I was gasping for air and couldn't stop panting like I had just ran two miles. Coming to my senses, my eyes darted from left to right and all around.

The moon was clearly visible through the starless night. Like a beam shining down upon me, I quickly distinguished my surroundings. I was lying on the ground at the edge of a dreary lake. Trees surrounded me at every angle and nothing had gone unconcealed by the depths of the forest. A shiver racked through me and I became aware of my soaking wet body. What had happened?

Like a trigger being pulled, the earlier events shot into my mind. A small, startled cry escaped me.

I had died.

I was a ghost.

Nick breathed water vapor into me.

I was now alive.

Nate...

I briskly got to my feet. A wave of dizziness swept through me, but I pushed past it and did my best to ignore the stabbing pain in my head.

Nate had entered the lake to kill himself.

To be with me.

I waded into the water and threw myself in with a headfirst dive. As expected, I could see nothing through the dark and murky water. I spread my arms out and groped around for anything that would lead me to Nate.  But the lake was literally a black hole. It was a pretty, dark, nothing.

I resurfaced, gasping for air. My eyes scanned the lake's surface, looking for any available clues. Second by second, I could feel my restraint slipping. If I didn't save Nate, I would hate myself forever. If he died, I would die inside, too. I needed to find him.

Yet it wasn't just a matter of need. I wanted to find him.

Still out of breath and sucking in air like a vacuum, I almost didn't notice it, but there was a faint disruption of the water in the middle of the lake.

I didn't even think. I just dove forward at the speed of a shark when it smelled blood. I pushed myself deep into the lake's dark depths and threw my arms out again. My hands were everywhere, franticly grabbing at the water for any purchase that was Nate. Time was ticking and I was scared out of my mind. But I managed to push all those pressuring thoughts away and with a determined attitude, I continued to swim deeper. I would find Nate if it killed me. Again.

I didn't know how deep this lake was, but it sure as hell must've been deep and empty because I couldn't figure out shit until I saw a dark shadow to my left. I went for it and grabbed a handful of fabric. Beneath the fabric was a strong arm that sent sparks shooting throughout my skin.

Nate.

Bingo. I pulled him closer to me, just in time to see his eyes flutter shut. With a strong hold on him, I started to swim up. I ended up using all the strength left in me and then some because if you added Nate's weight along with my own, you'd get a shitload of heavy. It was taking forever to get to the surface and I was so close to breathing in the water after a little swish of it entered my mouth.

A liquid fire burned in me and I just wanted to let go. This was perfect. Nate and I were finally together. We could both die and be together.

Isn't that what you wanted?

The voice came to life, and I felt a surge of darkness along with it. Maybe this is what I wanted. Just Nate...and me...and Death.

No.

I broke through the surface of the lake and sucked in large gulps of air. I brought Nate up along beside me. He was even heavier when out of the water. I ended up  dragging Nate over to the edge of the lake. I practically collapsed on his chest in the end. My muscles ached and burned from all the swimming and lifting. I was shivering, too, and me teeth wouldn't stop clacking together. But I managed to ignore all of that just enough to give Nate CPR. I couldn't do his water vapor thing, whatever that was. So I parted his lips, pinched his nose, and placed my mouth on his. I breathed air into him until I had to come up for more and I kept on going. I couldn't make myself stop, either, because I wanted him to be alive so fucking badly.

I was so lost in the CPR, I didn't notice when Nate's lips started to move against mine. But I eventually caught on and was pulled into the kiss. It wasn't exactly a sweet and gentle kiss. It was more of a god dammit, you're alive and now I'm going to make you mine type of kiss. Both our lips were cold, but that didn't really matter as they warmed up at the close contact. Sparks were firing through me like exploding grenades and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

Nate was none too gentle with the kiss and I enjoyed it so much. His slid his tongue into my mouth and the kissed turned more hungry and ferocious as we clung to one another desperately. We both knew that one another was alive, but we needed the reassurance.

Finally, though, we pulled away.

Nate immediately started to cough and I helped him sit up. I tried to get up to help him stand but he wasn't having any of that. He grabbed me and placed me in his lap. His arms snaked tightly around me and I felt my eyelids grow heavy as I leaned back against his warm chest.  The sparks were still freely flowing throughout my whole body.

He placed a soft kiss on my neck and I closed my eyes. Sleep took me under its captive hold, but not quick enough that I didn't hear Nate's last whispered words. "I accept you as my mate, Lily."

See? I'm not that horrible! Some people thought I was cruel and wouldn't let Nate and Lily live. I'm not saying names, though. **cough, cough, @thewandering cough*** -_-

So....now that they've accepted one another...what will happen??? I already have the next chapter written, just saying  ;)

Thanks for reading! You guys are the bomb!! :)
