"And then he just disappeared. I asked Portia where he was and she said that he was with the Council, discussing the events of the battle with the rogues. But the thing is, he's been gone for three weeks. Something isn't right. Or he's just avoiding me. I don't understand and I desperately want him to come back because I can't survive without him. He's amazing, despite how stupid he can be. I love his scent, the way he gets angry at me, and his stupid fair hair. I miss him so much. I wonder if he misses me..." I trailed off, gasping as hot tears slid down my cheeks. I was curled up on the floor of my room, babbling.

It sounded bad. Especially because I wasn't talking to myself. I was talking to the voice. And it was responding in the only way it could: with even more depressing comments.

He probably doesn't miss you. That's why he's gone. He's not coming back; not for you.

"But I should still have hope!" I suddenly said. "Hope that he'll come back. Hope that he'll love me, cherish me, and-"

He'll only break your heart again. Everyone will always break your heart. Because you're not important.

"Why should I listen to you?" I whispered, my body starting to tremble with silent sobs. "You're a random voice in my head. A voice that's negative, of all things. You're not even real. You're my demise. You're darkness. And I lied to Nate because of you! He told me to tell him if I ever felt the darkness again and I lied to him!"

He feels the darkness, too.

"What?" I croaked out, frozen.

He feels it. You feel it. There's no point.

An abrupt knock on my door had me scrambling up off the floor and wiping my face with the sleeves of my sweater. "Come in!"

Lizzie waltzed in, a tray of tea balanced in one hand and a warm smile on her cute face. Dressed in an oversized sweater and black leggings, she looked chill. She handed me a cup and then placed the tray on my dresser.

"You've been crying. And you're sad." She stated as she took a seat on my floor.

"Thank you for the assessment." I replied dryly. She suddenly averted her eyes and started to chew on her lips.

Something wasn't right.

"Why are you here?" I was suddenly suspicious and placed my cup on the floor.

"I..." She looked like she was having extreme difficulty saying whatever she was going to say. "I'm leaving tonight."

"What?" I was flabbergasted. She couldn't leave. I know she said she would but I didn't want her to. She belonged here despite whatever she may have thought.

She was our Luna and Xander's mate. She was my friend.

"I'm risking everything by staying here. I can't do that." She slowly shook her head.

"You can and you will." In the spur of the moment, I knew just what to say to keep her here. "I need your help. I still hear voices that don't belong to me. I don't feel good. I-I..." I miss that boy from the council.

Lizzie's brows furrowed and she leaned in until we were so close, we could have kissed. "There's something you're not telling me. You're hiding secrets and that's not good for your aura."
