I'm drowning. No. I'm falling. No. I'm screaming. Screaming for him to be with me. My eyelids flutter open and I can see an orange spark. It was falling from the roof. It landed on the ground and it looked like burnt paper. I was fire dreaming again. I've been doing that for a while now...4 days. I have only gone into my dorm room to get clothes on occasion. And only speaking to Brittany about the funeral. The traditional 3 days of mourning was over and Hannah was speaking more often to the others. Not to me.
Yesterday was Jason's birthday...I haven't spoken to him since he left me. It's twilight. I hated twilight. Not as much as I hate group hugs. But I'm beginning to miss them. "Hi Hannah." I say in a whisper, avoiding her eyes as best I could. She nods at Emma and Jumps. A quick purple swirl and then nothing. "Your not dressed. We don't have time. Here put this on. Don't forget your speech." Emma says emotionless. She hands me a black dress. I quickly put it on and tie my hair up in a neat bun. We Jump and find ourselves in the field, surrounded by black clothing and voiceless echoes.

A rectangular hole in the ground, a lot of purple flowers and tear-soaked tissues. The principle stands at the podium and addresses the students: "On this sad occasion, we are gathered. Gathered to remember a great young women..." I tuned out. Not out of Boredom, out of despair. I couldn't function. I was remembering Saige's smile.
After a while, Hannah walked shakily up to the podium and looked me in the eyes. "Saige was my best friend. Killed by a demon from 600 years ago that the original 4 could not kill. My friends and I managed to do it with only 3 of the 4 elements. In history you hear nothing of the beast. Only that it was never seen again. This school, our teachers and ancestors didn't kill the demon...they trapped it. They never told any of their students, they only tried to contain and control. Well they didn't do a very good job. Because do to this capture and release of the beast, Saige Dacrom died at age 17. On my birthday. She asked that I play this song. It was her favourite," Hannah takes a few steps forward, crouches by a CD player and presses play. The song started playing. It was 'A Thousand Years'. By Christina Perry. She really did love this song. "Now Brittany has a few things remember Saige." Hannah says as she walks slowly back to her seat in the front row.
Brittany got up out of her seat and walked up, tears dragging down her eyeliner. "Saige loved to sing. She never knew how good she was, she would always say that she wasn't worthy of the big lights. Well everyone knew you were!" Brittany screams up at the sky. "She would always wear gold eye shadow and by the end of the day she would be wearing it on her cheeks." She smiles at the thought. "Samantha Grey would like to say a few words." Brittany walks down from the podium and comes back to her seat. She squeezes my hand and smiles at me. I stand up. My legs almost come out from under me. I place my notes on the little edge of the podium and look out to the students of Traveller High.
"I didn't know Saige like you did. I hadn't even known her for very long. I knew tat she was a good, kind and caring person. Her death was horrible. But she wouldn't want to be remembered in a sad way, I know she would want to be remembered as the bright and happy person that she was. The day of her death we talked. She was smiling and eating an apple. I have never met a more happier person then Saige Dacrom. We will all miss and we all love you Saige." I finish my speech and walk back to my seat. Emma stands up and walks toward the podium and says her speech too. But I didn't pay attention to Emma's face, I was paying attention to the memories that she was bringing back.
