CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

*Alexis's POV*

"So you're just going to let me go?" I asked Asher cautiously, as I wiggled my hands, only to cringe when a jolt of sharp pain shot up my left arm.

"Yes, once I've had you checked for injuries." He replied, "Now could you please stay here, while I go and get somebody." He asked me, before getting up and leaving the room.

As soon as the door closed, I quickly stood up and assessed my surroundings. Turning around, I spotted a window behind me. It was big enough for me to climb out of.

Limping over to it, I cradled my left arm, before letting go of it, to check if the window was unlocked.
I was on the second story, but I wasn't going to let that stop me.

I didn't believe a word he had said, and I wasn't going to stick around to see if he was telling the truth.

Trying the latch, I realised it was locked.
I knew I didn't have very long until he returned, so I quickly undid the buckles on my heels, and slipped them off, before using the heel to smash the window.

I made sure to get most of the big shards of glass out of the way, before quickly climbing out feet first, adding more cuts to my already bleeding body.

Turning around, I decided that the risk of slicing my hands open was a better alternative, than sticking around and finding out what Asher's real plans were.

Placing my hands on the edge of the window frame, I cringed as I not only felt the broken glass cut into the palms of my hands, but felt half of my weight resting on my suspected broken left arm. I lowered myself out of the window, until my arms were completely straight, and I was left hanging out of the second story window.

I could hear heavy footsteps nearing the room I had just climbed out of.
So taking a deep breath, I used my feet to push away from the wall, and let go of the window frame.
I landed harshly on my back, the fall forced my breath out of my mouth.
I lay on the grass dazed for several seconds, before I pushed myself to my feet and ran.
I ran for my life.
And I didn't look back.

*Carlo Rossi's POV*

"We're his brothers God Dammit! Let us see him!" Mirco yelled at the receptionist, as I looked at her pleadingly.
Apparently we had to have ID to prove we were Lorenzo's brothers,
"Look here you little twat, my name is Carlo Della Rocca, Lorenzo's brother, and this is my younger brother Mirco. Now tell us where our brother is!" I yelled at the receptionist, getting pissed off.

"Mirco? That sounds fake. Do you really expect me to believe that Mirco is his real name? I'm not stupid!" She told me, glaring at me as if I were lying.

I mean I was, but not about our first names...

"Are you fucking serious! You are incredibly stupid! My name Is Mirco you fucking twit!" He yelled, furiously.

"What type of mother would name their child Mirco?" She laughed patronisingly.

"My mother would! What type of mother would name their child Susan?" He yelled, after reading her name tag, "I bet your mother has a stereotypical white person name too! And she's the type of person who always asks for the manager in shops and pisses everyone off who's behind her in line! And on top of that, she's probably homophobic too!" He continued, glaring at her.
She gasped, as I tried to hold back my laughter.

Trust Mirco to think of something like that...

*Domenico's POV*

"Have you heard any news about Lorenzo?" I asked Carlo through the phone, as I stood at the crash site.
"No, the bitch of a receptionist called security on us. You can blame Mirco for that..." His voice drifted through the speaker.
"Do I want to know why?" I asked cautiously.
"Probably not, but I've contacted Zio and apparently he's contacted Lorenzo's father, he will be here in about an hour, so we will be able to get in with him." He told me, before asking, "Any news on Alexis?"

"Not yet, Falco's talking to one of the police officers, finding out information. His suit is coming in handy, surprisingly; they aren't questioning how young he looks." I told him, before sighing, "I'm worried Carlo, He could have taken her anywhere. And we have no idea what injuries she sustained from the crash. The car was hit on the passenger's side..."

*Alexis's POV*

Looking around me as I ran, I tried to figure out where I was, I knew I was still in my town, because I had heard Asher say it. But I had no idea as to what part of town I was in.

The area looked quite dingy, everything seemed slightly run down, the light poles seemed dimmer than usual, the lawns overgrown.

I ran bare foot down the footpath, quickly darting to the left and around the corner at the end of the street, when I heard the sound of a car start up.

I saw an abandoned park about five houses ahead, I ran towards it, before deciding that they would expect me to hide there.

Instead I ran across the road, before climbing over the dark wooden fence that ran along the boundary of the houses on that side of the road.

I prayed to god that the people had no dogs, as I quickly ran into their back yard, before climbing over the fence that separated the backyard from the yard behind it.

I then turned right, running through yard after yard, street after street until I decided I had lost my pursuers.

I looked up when I came to the end of the street.

I had made it to the center of town.

I quickly made my way to the nearest 24 hour gas station, only to realise that they had locked the doors.

I limped over to the small night pay window, before pushing the buzzer. I then waited for a worker to come to the window.

"Oh my god! Are you okay?" A man yelled, when he came into view.

I must have looked a mess.

"Could you please call an ambulance?" I asked, before my vision went black.

*Carlo Rossi's POV*

"Finally! You're here Father! Please tell this stupid fuck that we are your children!" Mirco yelled dramatically, when Benito Della Rocca, Lorenzo's father, strode through the hospital entrance and into the waiting room.

"Yes, I am here, Where is my son?" He growled at the receptionist, who quickly typed something into her computer, before answering

"He's in the emergency department. Here, I'll unlock the doors for you." She told him, before pushing a red button on her side of the desk.

"Are you serious? You didn't even ask him for ID!" I yelled angrily.

"Shut it Carlo." Benito ordered, before opening the double doors to the ED, before gesturing us to follow.

We walked through the doors, before Benito walked towards the nearest Nurse, "Excuse me, where is my son? His name is Lorenzo Della Rocca."

"Hold on a moment, I'll ask the nurse in charge." She told him, before walking away.

She returned several minutes later, "Follow me please..."

As we trailed behind her, I noticed two ambulance officers burst in, pushing a gurney which held an unconscious girl. The girl had blood matted into her hair, and all over her face, but from what I could see, her hair was dark blonde...

I stopped walking as they got closer to me, "We need a doctor over here!" One of the ambulance officers yelled, before a doctor and two nurses rushed over to them, "We got a call from the night worker at the gas station on Cameron street, apparently she knocked on the window before falling unconscious. We believe she is the missing person from the crash on first avenue.

"Alexis! Holy shit! Is she okay?" I yelled, running over to the gurney, "Excuse me sir, I'm going to need you to back away, if you know her, we will get someone to inform you of her injuries once we've assessed her." One of the nurses told me, as she pushed me backwards.

With that they wheeled her into a room at the end of the hall...
