Chapter Thirty One...
*Alexis's POV*
"Hey Nick, it's my birthday this Saturday, I'm having a party and you're invited." I told Nick, as we worked on the following Monday.
"Oh really? I'm cool enough to come?" he laughed, as he tipped some used coffee grinds out.
"Don't make me un-invite you." I smirked, "Bring whoever, as long as they aren't creeps." I told him, before taking a muffin and a coffee to a customer at one of the tables.
"Damn, that eliminates most of my mates." He yelled after me.
I laughed, "I hope you're joking, or that's a bit embarrassing."
"I'm mostly joking, anyway, how do you like working here? Getting to be in the presence of someone godly every day." He asked, winking at me as I walked back behind the counter.
"I'm always in the presence of someone godly, myself..." I responded, pretending to dramatically flip my hair over my shoulder, the only problem was my hair was in a bun for work.
In all seriousness, I was enjoying working there, I hadn't seen Asher since that day in the office, and Nick knew how to have a laugh, I felt like I hadn't smiled this much since Danny and Brittany were alive.
Unfortunately I wouldn't be working here for very long.
Later that day I walked out of the café, only to be greeted by Luca, making sure our shoulders crashed into each other, he mumbled "We need to talk. Answer your phone," before walking into the café.
I groaned.
I didn't want to talk to him, even if he was secretly on Dom's side, that didn't mean that he was on my side.
Climbing into my car, I drove home. We'd gone back home because we weren't made of money and I couldn't bring myself to stay at a hotel for more than a week, especially when we had a perfectly good house just sitting there.
Walking up to the front door, I reached for the handle and attempted to turn it, only to realise it was locked.
That's odd.
Holly should be home.
Unlocking the door, proceeded to check the garage for her car, weird, her cars here.
I felt my pulse start to rise a little, after checking all of the rooms of the house I started panicking.
She can't have gone into labour, she would have called. I walked towards the back door to check outside, only to find it wide open.
Jogging outside I looked around the back yard, it was then that I noticed something glinting in the sunlight.
Her phone!
I picked up the phone, immediately noticing the cracked screen, the phone was still on, and opened on a message.
'I think someones in the h'
Pulling out my own phone, I was about to dial the police when it started ringing in my hand.
Luca
My hands shook as I slid my finger across the answer screen.
"Hello?"
"They have her..."
"Who has her?" I asked, shaking with rage and fear.
"Asher, I saw one of his goons cars drive away from your house about an hour ago, I can't lose my cover, but he's double crossed me, he promised to leave holly out of whatever goes down." He growled through the phone.
"Why didn't you follow the car!" I yelled angrily. "If she gets hurt its on you!"
"I tried to follow the car, but they had a fucking decoy and I somehow lost the real one!" He yelled back. "I already blame myself, now are you going to fucking help me get her back or not?"
"What do you want me to do?" I asked.
He was silent for a moment, before answering, "Tell Dom..."
"And let me guess, you still want to keep the detail of yourself being alive a secret." I asked, although it was more of a statement.
"I get that you don't understand, but it's best this way."
"Best for who? You? Dom? Its definitely not best for Holly." I told him, before hanging up.
I jogged back inside, locking the back door behind me in the process.
I decided to drive to Dom's, since I still had his number blacklisted, but as I was running out to my car, my phone rang again, this time it was an unknown phone number.
"Hello?" I spoke into the phone.
"Alexis!" Holly yelled through the speaker, "Alexis is that you?" she asked.
"It's me! Are you okay! Where are you?" I yelled, I could already feel tears wetting my cheeks.
"Someone grabbed me at the house, I don't know who they are, but Alexis, they want you." She told me, crying.
"I'll get you out of there," I told her, before I heard a commotion through the phone.
"Oh good, you're willing, that makes things easier." A male voice spoke through the phone.
The voice sounded so familiar.
"Leave Holly out of this! She isn't involved in any of this!" I yelled angrily.
"Holly was just a way to get you. You can ensure that she doesn't come into harm's way Alexis. All you have to do is do exactly what I say." He told me, before chuckling. "It all has to do with you Alexis. Everyone wants you, so I've decided to call the shots." He told me.
"So what do I do to get her back safely?" I asked, trying to remain calm.
"You do nothing, continue on as if nothing is out of the ordinary. At your birthday party we'll do the swap. You come with me and in exchange, I'll let her go."
"No one is to know of this, tell anyone, or try anything and your precious Holly dies." And with that he hung up.
