CHAPTER 5:
Zander tasted like I remembered: peppermint with an edge of rainwater. His kisses, however, were better than I remembered. He pushed me farther into the wall, moving his hands from my face to my waist. I dropped my notebook and moved my hands up to meet behind his head. He made a small sound when I ran my fingers through his thick hair.
We broke apart. I opened my eyes to find his already open, and looking into mine. We were both breathing heavily. "Your eyes are so beautiful." he said, as if it were obvious. I felt myself flush.
He pulled away and bent over to get my notebook. "Thanks" I told him when he handed it to me. I looked up the stairs, expecting to see Liam and 3rd period girl making out, but instead I saw Liam looking down at us, angrily.
I ignored him and continued up the stairs, Zander behind me. We passed Liam and his girl, and I saw the look that Liam gave Zander. One that promised consequences. All Zander did was smirk at him and follow me into the upstairs hall.
I pulled him into the storage room beside the stairwell. "What was that about?" I asked after we were both inside. Zander rubbed the back of his neck, starting to blush a little. "I saw your face. That's the same face I had after my ex broke up with me over the summer. I know how that feels. To see your ex with someone new, so I figured why not let him know that he wasn't the only one that could move on." All I could do was smile at him in wonder.
