CHAPTER 21:
By the time Friday rolled around, Trevor's anxiety level was through the roof. He was over at my house with Zander and Jenna. Kya was keeping Lilli busy at the mall, while we finalized the plans for tomorrow. We were gathered around the coffee table, pizza between us, and were running through the plan for the hundredth time. Trevor sat in an armchair, Jenna relaxed in the loveseat, and Zander had his head in my lap, on the couch.
"One last time." Trevor pleaded. "Fine. We'll run through the plan one more time." I said, as Zander groaned, eyes closed, on my lap. Jenna chuckled from the loveseat, amused by Zander. "You know you could have gone to the mall with Kya and Lilli, Babe." I told Zander as I looked down at him. He opened his eyes and looked up at me. "I would have but Victoria's Secret mannequins kinda creep me out.... Plus I wouldn't get to be with you." I laughed at his response and ran a hand through his white-blond hair as I thought. "Okay." I finally said. "First Zander will pick Lilli up, at 8:30 for a supposed dinner with their parents, but then he will drive her to the park instead. There Trevor will be waiting, under fairy lights, set up earlier in the afternoon. He will also have a bouquet of roses brought by Jenna from her mom's garden and a bag of Sour Patch Kids, Lilli's favorite candy, provided by Kya." I went over the plan again in my head as I spoke it aloud. "Correct." Zander informed us.
I looked over at Trevor, he seemed calm on the outside but I knew him better than that. "I'm sure she'll love it Trev." I told him, kindly. "Oh yea. Anything involving Sour Patch Kids, my sister's gonna love." Zander said with a chuckle. I looked at Trevor. "See Trev? You have nothing to worry about." I told him. All of a sudden Zander leaped up.
"Alright. Trevor you need to do something to distract yourself." Zander said as he faced Trevor. "What? You wanna beat Ava's Black Ops. Score?" he asked. "Not possible." I interrupted. Zander rolled his eyes at me. "No. Trevor we are going to play basketball." Zander stated proudly. "No. I'm terrible at basketball. The only sport I can play is soccer." Trevor responded quickly. "Lies. Ava told me about how y'all used to play horse in the backyard and that you even got pretty good." Jenna said as Trevor gave me a death look. "Yes. But the last time we played she pushed out of the way for the ball and I broke my arm." Trevor said slowly, still glaring at me. "Damn Ava." Zander turned and said. I could see Jenna staring at me out of the corner my eye. "What? I can be a little competitive." I said innocently. "Little bit my ass." Trevor muttered. "I heard that Trev." I fired at him. "Good." he fired back. We glared at each other for a full twenty seconds before laughing. Zander turned back to Zander. "C'mon Trevor. Please. My family moved here too late in the season for me to join the team. I haven't played in forever." Zander pleaded. "Fine. One game." Trevor said and Zander face broke into a smile.
Three hours later, the two were still playing. Jenna and I were returning from Pizza Hut, with Kya and Lilli in tow. As far as Lilli knew, everyone had just gotten my house a little while ago to hang out. We came in and the group followed me to the kitchen. "Hey Lilli wanna come with me to give the boys some water? It's pretty hot out there." I asked. "Sure." she said, grabbing two water bottles from the fridge. I slid open the glass door and headed down the stairs. I paused for a second. Zander and Trevor were shirtless. I took a moment to appreciate Zander's body. His muscles flexing as he shot the ball. When I started moving again, I noticed Lilli hadn't. I looked back to find her staring at Trevor. "Lilli?" I called back to her, in a teasing voice. I watched as she snapped back to attention, her face getting red. I turned to find the boys walking toward us, finally noticing our presence. Zander came up to me and gave me quick kiss before getting a water from Lilli. He turned back to me. "You're all sweaty." I told him, faking annoyance. "Oh be quiet. I saw you staring at me." he said with a wink. He gave me another kiss when he noticed my blush, smiling. Then he scopped me up and starting walking up stairs. "Now you'll be just as sweaty." he said, as I laughed.
I looked back and smiled. Lilli was red-faced talking to Trevor as he pulled his shirt back over his head and grabbed Zander's. I watched as she handed him the water said something that made him blush as well. Tomorrow was going to be perfect.
