Nate’s POV:
“I hate you. I hate you. I HATE YOU!” Genevieve yelled at me pacing around the small 7X8 foot space frantically.
“God, woman. Calm down. It’s not that big of a deal.” I muttered, she was acting as if being locked in a confined space with me was a bad thing.
“Calm down? CALM DOWN!?” She screamed. “How can you expect me to calm down?!” Damn. She looked so hot when she was angry.
“Uh, take deep breathes and try to relax?” I said, though it came out more as a question. I mean, isn’t that what you’re normally supposed to do when you’re having a panic attack?
“How can I relax when I’m locked up in such a small closet with the most annoying idiot in the history of the world and we have to breathe the same, limited air?” She shot back at me menacingly. Ouch, that stung a little…okay, a lot.
“Do you really dislike me that much that you can’t even stand to breathe the same air as me?” I asked her sadly looking up at her through my eyelashes from where I was sitting on the small stool in the corner. I was trying to make myself look small, helpless and unbelievably cute and from her expression it worked, if only just a little bit.
She gave a long sigh and slid down the wall, stretching her legs out in front of her and leaned back. “Sorry. I’m just annoyed right now, at you particularly. I didn’t really mean that.” She mumbled shutting her eyes.
I got up and from my seat and went and sat down next to her in the same position as she was and stared at her beautiful face from the corner of my eye. When she opened her eyes and glanced at me I quickly snapped my own eyes shut and pretended not to notice her. I opened eyes after a couple of seconds and looked at my watch trying to look nonchalant and noticed that the time was 11:58pm……and there were only 2 minutes left until my birthday. Thinking about the particular day I felt a little ache in my chest thinking about my parents but that feeling immediately got locked away in the back of my mind saw a soft smile gracing her face that turned into a scowl the minute she saw me looking. What was that? Was I imagining things? Genevieve Dylan Perez, the short, gorgeous spitfire that hated my guts was smiling at me. How the hell did that happen?
Tonight had been the most surprising night of my life by far. It started out with me trying to make Jenny jealous, then I got hit in the face by a tampon, followed by me actually crying while watching a chick flick, Jenny comforting me and then finally she was smiling at me. Could this day get any stranger? But then again this was my life.
“What do you think you’re doing?” She glared at me.
“What do you mean what do I think I’m doing?” I asked her, pretending to be clueless. “I’m sitting.”
“Yeah. I can see that, I’m not blind. I meant why did you come here and sit next to me?” Damn. What did I do know? Why was she being so hostile towards me?
