Ch. 5 ~ New Ability

C h a p t e r 5 《¤》
       My head was throbbing and I  look at the alarm clock. It was 10:35. I was already late to school.
      I groan annoyed that I went to that stupid party and got drunk. I start to sit up but there is something pulling me down. I look down at an arm. I nearly scream but I see who it is and sigh. I poke Theo's cheek and pull his ear. I tickle his side and he squirms under. His beautiful blue eyes come to life and he smiles.
"Is this how you wake people up? You tickle them?" I nod.
"Well, it's actually really helpful." I say.
"How?" He raises in eye brow.
"Cause." I get a bit closer. "Now I know you're ticklish!" I start to tickle him more and we start to laugh. Theo tries to tickle me but fails because...he slips. I gasp and go to the floor at his level.
"Ow... Are you ticklish?" He asks. I knew I wasn't but I had to play along. I quickly run under the sheets. I hug myself tightly and then there's a bark. Brownie jumps on Theo.
"Hey big guy." Theo grabs him and gets under the covers.
"Look I surrender, can I have Brownie?" I ask pleadingly. Brownie just jumps on me. I pet him softly.
"Well since we are already late to school, let's just say here and sleep." He says.
"Heck no. I'm not staying in bed all day l. It's beautiful outside. And... I'm a very active person." I say nodding my head.
"Let's see about that." He says and I get up.
  " I'll go home and change. Meet me at the park around noon." He says.
"Fine...you can take Brownie if you want." He glares at me.
"Ya...I want Brownie. I can take him if I want to, you don't have to tell me when and when not to take him." He says being childish. I roll my eyes and kick him out. Brownie followed. I kiss Brownie and close the door. What is Theo doing to me?
   I quickly run upstairs and jump on my bed. I sigh in frustration. If only I had a normal life, with a normal family, I would be able to do anything. I have to lie to my closest friends. It's not fair for others to be so normal and me to be so different....if only...

I decided to sleep for another hour. It was 11:26 when I woke up. I groggily take a shower and brush my teeth. I knew I told Theo that I was active but my head hurts and my feet hurt and everything hurts. I drop on my bed and hit my head on my dresser. I grumble since it doesn't hurt. I dress in black loose sweat pants and a light blue tanktop. I put my hair in a ponytail. Since I am very active, I'll easily beat Theo. But on the other hand Theo is in great shape. I tell myself.
    I decide to wing a jacket since it was nice outside. When I get outside, I immediately regret it. There were a few clouds scattered and they were grey. I mean today I woke up horrible... I guess the weather comes from me. I get giddy at the thought. I'm angry at Theo I thought. Suddenly big winds push is through the streets. Well, I feel so happy that I discovered my new ability. The sun appears behind some clouds and I smile. For once I think I'm powerful. You might think, ya you have powers. Arent you powerful? Yes I am but that's not the case now. Me, myself am not comfortable with killing and being different.
   I walk down the street and see a park in the distance. Just as I was about to cross the street a little girl comes up to me. She was crying and had a little brown teddy bear in her arms. I squat down.
    "My mom." She says sobs.
    "What's your name?" I ask.
    "Lilly. My mom...she's trapped!" She shouts. She was probably around 6.
    "Where?"
    "In a building. The firefighters can't get to her. She's going to die." She sobbed.
    "No, she's not going to die. Do me a favor, stay with so.eone you know. It's going to be ok. Wait here." I run towards the park. I see Theo sitting at a bench.
   "What took so long?"
    "Girl. Mom. Fire. Now." I grab Theo's arm and pull him towards the girl, breathless. I was really out of shape but I wasn't going to think about that now.
    "Lead the way." I tell the girl. She starts to run in the direction of smoke. How did I not see it?
    "She's at the very top. Do you see her? Please help me." The girl sobs. I nod and begin to climb the building. Theo and other people shout for me to get down but I couldn't. It felt like it was my duty to help the little girl and her mom. My hand losses grip and I'm hanging one handed. I pull myself up and continue climbing. I look below me and see Theo climbing as well. I sigh in frustration and keep climbing. I wanted to fly to badly and get her down but that would expose me. I don't know the dangers of the world. There are people hunting me. Others who want to get their hands on something mysterious, I'm perfect for it. I continue to climb. I hear the firefighters arrive and prepare to get all of us down if we fail. I finally reached the top and I swing one leg over the ledge and then the other. I was afraid to fall but I knew it wasn't going to hurt.
    "Hello?" I ask.Cries are heard. I kick the door open to a closet and see a lady in her mid thirties hugging her crying baby to her body.
    "We're here to help. Let us help you." Theo says calming her down. I pull the lady out and help her over the ledge. The firefighters do the rest. Suddenly a big burst sends me flying through the air. I land on my butt against the ledge. I stand up and stretch. I see Theo standing up as well. I run to him.
    "Are you ok?" I ask.
    "I'm fine. Are you ok?" I roll my eyes and nod. We tell the firefighters we are fine and begin the climb down. I don't know why but Theo was giddy of the rescue. I mean I am too, but this is a different giddy. I don't know....maybe it's just me.
    Once we reach ground, everyone surrounds us and Lilly hugs my legs.
  How did you do that? Are you ok? Do you need treatment? How did you feel? Why did you do it? Why do you care so much? How come you're a first? Were you scared? So many questions and I was feeling sophicated. I was invincible but I couldn't take interrogation. I felt my stomach squirm and my throat started to close up. What's happening? I think suddenly I fall in the arms of Theo. Theo...what a funny name. Th...ee..oo. I find myself laughing. Why am I laughing? Am I having mental breakdown? Am I just overwhelmed? I ask myself so many questions but I can't answer any. Slowly I drift of to dark land. Maybe I'll find peace...

Something wet is placed on my head and I jolt awake at the contact. I see Theo, Berry, Riley, Matt, and Susan. What are they doing here? You know what, no more questions. My head was spinning and I felt like throwing up. I point to my throat so they get the message. No one gets it.
