"Watch your six!" I shout before pulling the trigger. The figure falls to the ground. "Headshot! Again!"

"Noooo!" Devon cries, falling to his knees.

I'm playing one of my shooting games with my brother. Unsurprisingly, I'm winning. Again.

"This isn't fair. I should be the one winning," He groans and tosses his controller onto the floor,"You win again Iris."

I smile at him,"Aw, it's ok brother dearest. You'll get there someday."

I hear knocking from downstairs.

"Devon, hide," I whisper.

This can't be good. This house that we live in is abandoned. However, the electricity and plumbing still work.

I pick up the GLOCK 19 from the closet and head downstairs. I hide it in my back pocket. I open the door, and find some foreign guy with bodyguards.

"Hello, is this the Clawheart residence?" Asks the foreign man.

"Is this who's residence?" He ignores me and continues.

"I am Mr. Snetchi. You have won a free tour to a meet and greet with the Avengers!" He tries to cover up his German accent, but fails.

Serious red flags are going off in my head.

"I don't know who the Avengers are, and I don't care, so goodbye."

I shut the door on their faces and lock it. I run upstairs.

"Devon, pack what you can!" I whisper-shout at him. I grab my backpack and stuff it with clothes, food, water, ammunition, and anything else deemed necessary. Devon follows suit.

I run downstairs and peek through one of the windows.

They're still here.....guess the back way will do.

"Devon! Come on. We're going out the back."

He runs up to me. There is a heavy knock at the front door. "Open up!"

We look at each other and run out the backdoor.

We run to the woods. The trees will be our cover.

After running for a while, we decide to hide in one of the trees. I keep the gun out just in case. I swore to myself to protect Devon when I found him

Devon tugs on my shirt. I turn to him and he puts a hand over my mouth, presses a finger against his lips, then points to the ground.

I nod in understanding, and we stop moving.

The German man walks right past the two of us, while the bodyguards look a lot harder.

"Why can't we just call this over and pick up a brat from another orphanage?" Mr. Snetchi  asks.

"Because we are no longer welcomed at any of them." One of the bodyguards responds.

Fortunately for us, they didn't look hard enough. Mr. Snetchi and the body guards walk further into the woods, so Devon and I climb down and start running back.

The edge of the woods is in our sight. We decide to hide in the trees again. It will be dark in a few hours. We can run for it then.

After those extremely long hours are up, it's dark. Devon and I jump down from the tree and start sneaking around to the front of the house. If we head straight from the house, then we'll find a road.

A gun goes off, making the rest of the world silent. I look at his face with horror. Blood drips down, staining the grass.

"Devon!!" He falls to the earth, unmoving. His eyes stay open. Empty. Unmoving. Dead.

I turn with the gun towards the source of the bullet, but am immediately disarmed. I feel a sharp pain in my neck, and the world became dark......

It's my fault.

I should have saved him.

It's my fault he died.

I wake up with a start on the cold floor. I then realize I am in the facility. I sigh. I get off the ground and change into my uniform. It's a navy blue jumpsuit with the HYDRA logo on the back. I've been here for several weeks now, and all I've done is sit around and wait.

My cell door opens, and the Professor walks in, "Time for your tests."

I knew this day would come, "Yes Professor."

I follow him to an operation room and sit down on the table.

"Let's just get this over with," I mumble.

I suddenly realize that this was the room of endless screaming.

My silver eyes widen in fear. Professor grabs a tray of different syringes, all different colors, and starts with the green one.

"Don't worry Iris. It'll only hurt worse." Those words get to me, making me struggle against the restraints.

He laughs maniacally. "Oh, you'll thank me later." The needle punctures my arm.

That's when the screams started. Not any screams, but my own. The screaming and pain that went on for at least an hour. Whatever is happening to my body, it is experiencing drastic changes.

The pain doesn't subside, but I can no longer scream. My throat is too sore. I am too weak. I can't fight anymore, so I just give up and let the black consume me. After all, it does get rid of the pain.
