Chapter 5

Kino's POV

I growl,"But they want to take our family!" Tessa nods,"That girl said we could come." My eyes grow wide. I lower my head before leading the strangers to where Grey hid Iris.

Iris's POV

I wake up to find a man with long blond hair and blue eyes carrying me. I scream and jump to my feet. My silver orbs widen in fear. Pit vipers, green anacondas, and tree boas surround them, and a harpy eagle lands on my arm. Kino and Kora stand in front of them, telling me they're not a threat. "Iris, calm down. We won't hurt you." The man with the bow and arrows says to me.

I throw all of them to the ground. Grey comes over to me, concerned. "Iris, please calm down. They won't hurt you, I promise," he gently growls. I growl back sarcastically, "Really? I can't tell." He growls, getting annoyed, "Iris, I said calm down." "What if they're lying?! I can't take it. I ran here because I was safe!" Tessa joins in, "They said we can come with you." I stop and my eyes glow with happiness. I smile and hug all five of them as they look at the strangers.

I walk up to Speedy and punch him square in the face. "Eso es para mi familia!(That's for my family!)" I shout. The other strangers laugh as he swings at me using his speed, missing. We go on like this for what feels like hours, when the red-head aims something at me and advances. I stop beating up the blond moron and freeze. Blue growls and stands in front of me, and the eagle lands on my shoulder. Speedy takes this chance and punches me in the stomach. I don't move. The pain is dulled by fear. She realizes this and puts it away, and I regain my senses. Everyone glares at the red head. She rolls her eyes and puts her hand on my other shoulder. I flinch.

"Sorry. I didn't know you are afraid." "It's fine. Just don't do it again." She smiles, "Ok, let's go." You look at her, "Go where, exactly?" "To New York!" The robot answers. I turn to the robot,"Yeah, no thanks. I'll just stay here. I've had a couple of people who have tried to kill me, and I don't want to see them again." The guy with the bow and arrows smirks, "No can do, kid. That's not our mission." "Wait, what?" "Sorry Iris," said the man in spandex as he reaches for my arm. I growl at them and run away full speed, the eagle flying away.

The red-head sighs,"We don't have time for this." She turns and says something I can't hear to the male brunette. I turn around and a big green creature roars. I quickly tell Tessa and Kino to stay out of it, and I keep running. The creature chases me down a river to a waterfall, and I jump.

I land in the water completely unharmed, and I stay underneath. I watch the green creature circle the shore, seeing it's green eyes fill with concern, and after a while, it jumps in. I hurry out of the water while it's in, and I take a few breaths before running down the river. I shift into a fish and jump back in the river, acting like any other fish. I no longer hear the creature, so I swim back to the waterfall.

The creature is gone, while the other strangers are there. I swim in place, watching everyone's moves. Kino, Tessa, and Grey lay down, not phased by the chaos. On the other hand, Kora and Blue are frantically searching for my scent. The blond guy shouts, "I have had enough of this nonsense! If this girl is in these waters, then lightning should draw her out!" The guy with the bow shakes his head, "You could kill the other animals." The robot looks at me in my fish form, then says something to the others. They all look at me, so I swim around trying to act normal.

I hear something  hit the water and I swim away. I jump into the secret cave and shift. I stay hidden, but not for long. I don't hear anything, but I feel a surge of electricity go through me. I fall to the ground, unable to move. I try not to close my eyes, but the shock is too great.
