Just the Usual High School Love

Chapter 10

Jenna climbs on the bus in her ridiculously high pumps and walks past  me and Chad, sitting right behind us. Snickering with her friend who I think is named Clarice, who is dressed just as dumbly.

Chad doesn't even seem to notice them but I know he is just ignoring them, she has always liked him, in denial of course, and he has never liked her. I smile in my head and I look over to Chad who I noticed is staring at me. I blush and look away.

He smiles lightly and I see him glance over with the corner of my eye.

He looks straight at me and his lips part as if he is going to say something but he blushes and looks away. I nudge his arm and he finally speaks "You look.. really cute in that jacket.." and he looks away.

I am wearing my favorite jacket that I have had for so long. I remember... I had this jacket in middle school and it still fits. "Thank you" I smile and he returns the favor.

I hear something coming from behind me and I try to not listen in but I cant help it:

"Do you see what is going on here?! This isn't right!" Jenna says putting emphasis on 'this' as if she is disgusted with the word itself but then I know that she means me and Chad.

"I know right. She thinks she is cool and that he will actually like her by flirting. She doesn't know even how to flirt and she should just go run back to her little group of geeks and stop trying!" Clarice hisses.

They think I can't hear with my headphones in but I bet Chad can here it too. I feel my eyes gloss over and I try to blink it away. I have never been very emotional but that actually really hurt and I feel like running off of the bus. I wonder would Chad follow me off and comfort me? I don't know what I would do if he did.

I drift from my thoughts when the bus pulls up at school and everyone starts to get off. Chad doesn't get up and i don't know why. So I just sit and wait to see what he will do.

When Jenna and Clarice walk past, Jenna continually looks back with worried looks and Clarice has to keep her moving before she comes back here and strangles me. I think about mocking her waving goodbye and smiling but I decide against it because I don't think it would go over well with Jenna or Chad. It's not like me to do something so mean, I don't even know why I thought that.

I look at Chad and he pulls out the headphones from both of our ears. I stop the music from playing, and we are the last people on the bus. He looks straight into my eyes and grabs my hand and pulls me up and runs off the bus with me.

"I want to show you my favorite place to be" he grins wickedly and I don't know what to say and he pulls me, running behind the back of the school.

I look around to see if anyone is watching and I see Jenna with her hand on her hip at the door of the school. I smile and run along with him making sure she can see me grab his hand tighter and run up next to him, flipping my hair in the wind of my speed.

I wonder where he is taking me? and why?

I'm excited, and nervous...Oh what do I do?
