Keira
"Y'all good?"
Looking up from my iPad, I nodded to my lawyer.
"Yea we straight man." August nodded before going back to his lawyer.
We sat in one of the private chambers waiting on not only the judge but August's brother and wife along with their lawyer.
"If they don't show this time, I'm motioning for this case to be thrown out and petition a motion for them to pay for time wasted." August's lawyer spoke.
"Balee that." He nodded.
Shifting in my seat, I was becoming restless and it showed.
"Calm down baybeh. We going on a lah vacation after this anyway." He kissed my cheek.
He was right. We had decided on taking YaYa who was in the court daycare, on a little trip after all this.
"When we get back to that house, ya gon feed Daddy?" He whispered before kissing but low key licking on my neck.
"Yes." I blushed.
As we laughed a bit, the door opened and in walked the snake and his wife with their lawyer.
"Don. Joseph." He spoke go our lawyers.
"Max. Nice to see we meet again." My lawyer Don spoke as they shook hands.
"Max." August's lawyer just spoke.
Based on what August had filled me in on, Jamal's lawyer who basically works with low income people but he is a bit shady and sneaky.
Looking up again, I saw Dricka looking at me. It was clear the annoyance showed on my face because she sucked her teeth.
"Don't say anything." August whispered to me as he held my hand below the table.
Shortly after the judge came in and we got things going.
"Ok so we've finally met with this case." Judge Fuller spoke. "LaBranch versus Cox/Alsina." He looked up. " Your claim is for the amount of six thousand three hundred dollars to settle both medical fees and medication you were on due to injuries sustained from when the defendant assaulted you. I'll let you go first with you being the plaintiff." He pointed at Jamal's lawyer.
The Judge's demeanour was so confusing to me. You couldn't tell whether he was in a good moos or not.
"Well basically, your honor. My client's wife was physically attacked by the defendant during their Thanksgiving family dinner. Injuries were sustained resulting in my client's missing out on time at her job." He spoke passing photos of Dricka's injuries.
"Ok, Mrs. LaBranch please tell me your relation to the defendant?"
"She's my brother in law's girl friend."
"Fiancée." August mumbled.
"Mr. Alsina?"
"Sorry your Honor." He shifted in his seat.
"Continue."
"Um. Well we were at their mother's house for Thanksgiving like we usually do. We had finished lunch and they were out."
"Why were we out Dricka?" August spoke again.
"Babe." I whispered.
It was clear he was getting annoyed because she wasn't giving the entire story.
"Mr. Short please ask you client to refrain from any other outburst or there will be serious repercussions." He eyes August. "Please continue."
"So when they got back in, I was in my room when Keira knocked on my door. I answered asking what was up and that's when she struck me."
