Here's to more joy...

Y'all know what to do too!

Keira

“My baby sis a married woman now huh?”

Blushing, I turned and looked at Kevin as he closed the door behind him.

“I'm so proud of you.” He smiled.

“For what?” I laughed lightly.

“You may not see it sis, but you've come a long way.” He approached me. “And as dad’s representative, he's proud of you too.”

“You knew about the photo?”

“Yup.” He smirked.

“What else do you know?” I side eyed him.

“You'll find out when it's revealed.”

“Kevin!” I whined and pouted.

“There goes my spoiled baby sister.” He laughed. “Just relax and enjoy everything sis. Believe me when I say he got this.”

“I know he does. I've never doubted it. I just want to know.”

“And you will. Now I gotta head back out there.”

“Fine.” I rolled my eyes. “You're all set for your trip?”

“Yea and they don't even know.” He laughed.

“They’re gonna be excited.”

“Yea and you know our extra ass momma I'm her feelings.”

“Kevin.” I snickered.

“I'm for real. She mad because I'm taking them and I ain't ever took her anywhere.”

“Kevin.” I laughed.

“I swear, she be so childish sometimes.”

“Oh really?”

Hearing our mother, he flinched. I was trying so hard to hold in my laughter. All while he was ranting, our mother was in fact in the room helping me freshen up.

“Hey momma.” He turned around and smiled.

“Just shut up and get out of here!” She pushed him out.

“But mom.”

“Leave Kevin!”

Closing the door in his face, she shook her head and came over to me.

“You know he didn't mean it right?”

“Child please. Yes he did and he was right. I was in my feelings but I'm over it.”

“But why?” I laughed a bit.

“It reminded me of when we used to go on our family trips. The way y'all father would plan it and just surprise us no matter how much I tried to figure it out.” She smirked and shook her head.

“Oh.” I nodded understanding.

“Your brother has your father’s ways and you just married a similar version to you father so I know you will be happy.”

“Mommy.” I cooed, wiping the tears from her cheek.

“Like everyone, I'm proud of you and Kevin. You two have grown into amazing adults and I couldn't ask for anything more.”

“We had amazing examples to learn from.” I stood up.

Hugging her, we shared a moment. I knew to this day my mother missed my father dearly. Regardless of how she behaved when it came to her little boyfriends, I knew it was her way of trying to fill a void.
