“What else do we need?”

Walking through Walmart, we were shopping for things for this dinner party tonight. I was excited because its the first time since the wedding that we were coming together and I honestly missed everyone.

“That's it judging from my list.”

“OK.”

Making our way to the cashier, I scrolled through my phone when a call came in.

“My best friend.” I smiled at Sara.

“Hi love.”

“Tell me you're here?”

“I am.” She laughed. “We came in some hours ago but just got up.”

“Sara its after ten in the morning. You're usually up early.”

“Girl that flight from Italy is tiring. We were both jet lagged.”

“I understand. Well I can't wait to see y'all tonight.”

“Me too. I've missed you.”

Sara and Mike were living in Italy after he decided to go back in the Navy and was stationed out there. She was still my partner with the club, we just didnt see each other regular.

“Anyway. I'm bout to go make something for me and Mike before he gets up. We'll see y'all tonight.”

“OK babe.”

Looking up, my aunt and the cashier were looking at me.

“What?”

“We're waiting on you.” She laughed.

“Oh shit. My bad.”

Getting my aunt's wallet from my bag, I handed it to her so she could pay. As the guy took our stuff out, I checked my list to see where I needed to go again.

“Auntie?”

“Yea?”

“You up for a mani pedi. We finished everything and got an hour or two to spare.”

“We do?”

“Mhmm.” I nodded as I drove.

“OK well let's just drop these off at the house and then we can.”

“Cool. I'll call Erin to see if she can fit us in.”

As I continued driving, I smiled as I heard my aunt singing. Since being in Cali, I've seen a difference in her overall. Her happiness was just radiating.

“So.”

“Mmm.”

“Your uncle called me.”

“He did?” I glanced at her.

“Yup.”

“Why?”

Laughing a little she shook her head. My aunt and uncle been divorced a couple years now. To say it was mutual, I would be lying.

When I became a teen, I noticed a lot of things and one of them being jealousy over me and my aunts relationship and I believed he resented her for not being able to have children.

“He claimed he wanted to talk.”

“What about?” I pulled up at the light.

“Apparently he misses me.” She laughed.
