"Drake, you look like you're going to explode," I poked my best friend. We'd become friends as he was the nicest towards me, always taking the time to talk to me as he was only a year or two older than me so we were able to talk more.

"I feel like it. Oh my god Princess, you don't even understand."

"Please with the nickname," I groaned falling back onto the couch. I was sat in reception munching on a packet of crisps waiting for Drake to take his break so we could go and get some lunch. I could feel the last of the caffeine start to leave my system and I was ready to drop down and sleep and to say I was hungry was an understatement.

"Shut up, it suits you."

"No it does not!" I argued.

Originally it had been my dad's pet name for me and Drake had overheard him using it as he comforted me as we were leaving this hotel. Our house had just burned down and we had been sent here as temporary accommodation. That was also the time I had found out you could access the roof and I started to use it as a place of comfort and escape.
Drake then adopted the name when he heard my dad using it again on the night he found out I had camped up on the roof all night.

I turned my attention back to my friend when I felt the couch from someone sitting down.

"Ready Princess?" He grinned at me. I didn’t answer him, instead grabbing his arm and dragging him through the door. I loosened my grip when he caught up, but I didn’t let go as I lead the way to the nearest McDonalds. I didn’t really like their food, but I had been craving their fries all morning.

After we had collected our order we went to find a table. Drake literally looked like he was about to explode as we sat down, so I thought I had better get this over with.

“Go on then, what is it?”

“I can’t say. Company policy.” He looked down.

“But you could tell me if I guessed right?” He nodded.

“Does it have anything to do with that band? What’s their name again, Vierce the Peil? Veil the Pierce?” I asked purposely getting the name wrong to wind my friend up. As predicted, Drake looked absolutely horrified, as if I had just told him that I had killed the cutest kitten in the world and fed it to his puppy.

“Hmm, so if Pierce the Veil are in town and you can’t say anything does that by any chance mean that they are staying at the hotel you just happen to work in when they get here next week?” I asked. Drake nodded his head frantically with tears starting to form in the corner of his eyes from the happiness.

“Yeah, we only got told this morning and I legit think that I am going to die from the feels…”

“But?”

“I just wish I could go to the gig as well but they sold out before I got paid so I couldn’t afford the tickets,” he informed me sadly. I just smiled and started to root through my bag, pleased that I could surprise my friend.

“Stop smiling. This is not funny. It’s not a good thing.

“Are you working that night or the morning after?” I asked, finding the desired item in my bag.

“The morning. I swapped as soon as they announced the tour so that I could go to the gig and I forgot to swap back.”

“Who’s your best friend Drake?” I asked sweetly giving him a big grin.

“You, err you are?” He stated slowly, unsure of himself and where this was going. I held the tickets up so that he could see what they were.

“Are they?” He stuttered, completely lost for words.

I simply nodded. While I didn’t really listen to the band I knew Drake was a huge fan and he deserved a treat and I knew that he would do the same for me with something I loved as much as he loved them.

“Consider it an early birthday present.” I grinned at him.

“Molly Knight I love you so much I could kiss you!” He cried.

“Well then… You say that now,” I sighed not noticing the use of my name and not my nickname. I gave him his ticket and we cleared our stuff in preparation to leave the fast food restaurant.
