Title Credit: The First Punch- Pierce The Veil
"Why would you like a job working with us?" Steven asked me.
"Would you like the professional answer or the friendly one?" I asked grinning nervously, trying to hide how much my leg was shaking.
"I think we'll stick to being professional, eh Knightly?" He chuckled.
"Sure." I placed my hands in my lap and recited the answer that Drake had helped me to prepare last night. Steven nodded while I was speaking to show that he was listening to what I had to say.
"Thanks, I think that's everything we need. Unless you have any questions you want to ask me?"
"Who has the graveyard shift?"
"Molly be serious please?" Steven sighed.
"I am. Who has the graveyard shift? Also how long before you'll have an answer for me?"
"Mark is on security and I think Jenna is on but I'm not sure. Ask Drake, I'm sure he'll know who's working."
"Thanks Stevie," I smiled innocently.
"Molly if I find you on that goddamn roof again... I don't need another lawsuit."
"Then I'll make sure you don't find me. But back to this interview, when will you have an answer for me?"
"Hopefully by the end of the week. I still have a couple of people left to see after you," Steven replied leaning back against his chair.
"You don't sound to happy about that," I pointed out as I shook his hand after standing up.
"I'm not particularly, I hate interviewing people. But I need new slaves. I mean employees."
"Sounds about right. Have lots of fun with your interviews and I hope you enjoy your week." I started to walk towards the door.
"Molly I'm just curious, but what did you mean?"
"When?"
"What's the friendly reason that you want the job?"
"Couple of reasons really. I'm proving a point to my Dad about getting a job, which I do need to get. Also because it will give me something to do with my days and I already know how the building works, where everything is thanks to helping out my friends and how everything works. Besides if I'm working then I won't be hanging out on the roof," I replied.
"God can I hire you now? Just to get you off the goddamn roof. You shouldn't be up there anyway," Steven scolded me.
"You know how pointless it is telling me, I'm still gonna go up there. But at least give the other potentials a chance," I grinned as I finally left the room.
I stupidly took the stairs down to reception which left me out of breath as Steven's office was on the top floor. I hung out on the couches near the front desk while I waited for Drake to take his lunch break.
"Hey Princess, how'd it go?"
"Eh, I think I've persuaded Steven. I'll be here by next week," I smiled.
"So until then lunch is on me?" He asked.
"You know me so well Drake. God I really need a nickname for you."
"Well I can't give you one because then it won't mean the same thing," Drake replied as we made our way out of the hotel.
"Can we go to Starbucks?"
"You ditching me?"
"I have to sleep sometime." I shrugged.
"I need to speak to my dad before he leaves again."
