The eye didn't belong to a mutation. It belonged to a boy. He had tan skin, and blood-red eyes. He had sweeping black hair with white streaks at the ends. He was tall and lean, not very muscular. In his hand was a farmer's sickle splattered with a crimson liquid.
I looked up at him and grabbed Karli. Her green eyes suddenly changed to blue when I grabbed her.
Stunned I asked,"How did your eyes just..."
"Colored contacts. They must have fallen out." She groaned in reply.
I grabbed her thin arm and pulled her into the door. Her house was quaint and not very colorful. It had gray walls and three family photos. A young girl about ten and Karli with a man and a woman with two stern faces.
Karli pulled me up the stairs once I started looking around. A door stood ajar. I whispered to Karli to stand still. I tried to sneak my way into the doorway when I saw a blade slice the air. I quickly ducked and kicked the foot I saw in front of me.
"Gah!" The person screamed. I heard a thump as they obviously fell to the ground. I leaped into the air and pounced on the fallen Mexican boy.
His sickle was on the ground near the doorway. I looked into his red eyes and was completely horrified by them.
The boy shook his head talking,"I mean no harm, let me go."
I kicked the sickle farther away. I lifted my body off of his and stood up.
"Thanks." His voice was strained as if he had recently been screaming.
He looked at me. Then to Karli who was peeping through the doorway. The boy looked back at me.
"My name's Rain. How about you two?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"My name's Karli." Karli said from behind me.
I uttered,"Felix." I didn't realize something. Outside, the animal mutations were all gathering outside. Other animals started to crawl into the dead bodies.
"Guys. We need to go. Rain. Where did you get that weapon?" I said.
"Just outside and down a couple blocks, why?" Rain questioned.
I pointed out the window, "Take a look."
