No one moved. Jerry was near the left of the group next to the old woman who looked like a cat.
Rain broke the silence,"This way." He threw his hand up and pointed out the door.
I bent down and scooped up Rain's sickle. "You don't get this back until we know we can trust you." I glanced at Karli who was crying.
Karli spoke through tears,"Wh-Whe-Where's Emily?"
Rain turned red. "Did she have a...um...pet rabbit?"
Karli burst into a fit of tears and hysterical laughing,"She loved that bunny, for god's sake. Now she's the damn bunny!"
Rain tried to apologize, but Karli slapped him across the cheek in a motion so fast."Don't look at me. Don't talk to me. If it weren't for Felix, I would have killed you by now." Karli said furiously.
Rain took a couple steps back in retreat to Karli's sudden anger. I turned back around and now saw the animal mutation things starting to look more human. They're mouths and chest and legs all looked the same as the animal.
I turned back around and saw a window just outside in the ravaged hall. Rain saw this as I peered past Karli who was now slowly regaining her usual skin color. The blood flowed into my face as it left Karli's.
My parents are on vacation in Florida. They were supposed to be flying back tomorrow.
"My parents should be home. This is...weird." Karli said looking around confused.

3 hours later
Karli lead the group with her head held high as she just slapped Rain six more times. I had to stab a little girl who was mixed with a lizard. Her eyes were a vibrant green and filled with terror as I stabbed her right before she bit Rain's leg.
As we walk through the field of wheat, a small town that my school is in starts to show up. I never realized the small stores off the main point of the town.
One was an antique shop that was very small and cozy. Glass was shattered in the main window and on the door frame. I stepped over the shattered glass and got a glimpse of my reflection.
My electric blue eyes were surrounded by black from a fight with an alligator 70-year old. My lush brown hair was still straight, just had blood dripping down from it, staining the tips crimson.
When we all stepped past the threshold, I was amazed by the old, tacky items.
Rain flicked a light switch and light flooded through the building. It reflected off something that caught my eye in the glass encased box. I stalked over to it and gazed inside. There was a bronze dagger glinting and shining. There were small holes in the wooden handle for air to flow through. It's bronze blade curved at the top and it looks never used.
I hopped over the counter and grabbed some keys that dangled on a bulletin board tack. I undid the lock and reached in. My fingers clasped around the handle and it felt wonderful. It was light and sharp.
Something caught my eye. There was someone on the ceiling. I saw it in the bronze reflection. I glanced up to see a girl with wonder-filled eyes with a color like minuscule shards of polished copper had been stamped into a bowl of fresh blueberries, and her hair was impossibly straight, the color of warm caramel with cinnamon and dirt sprinkled in, the ends black as if they had been charred. She was very skinny. In her hand was a retractable black spear.
I heard Rain speak from across the room, "Rowen Idrissa, is that you?"
