We jumped down and took cover behind a tree. Karli peered around the bark to look down the street. She mouthed: people.

Nodding, I crept toward the gunshots with my dagger raised. I could see a young girl that has blond hair and is wearing pajamas. She is holding a butcher knife as she stabs a mutt.

Karli sees the girl and screams,"EMILY!"

Emily? I thought Rain killed her when she became a giant murderous bunny...

The thought came to me. I didn't think I would notice it until it popped up in my head. Karli's parents were on a business trip. Maybe one of then came home early....

I sprinted after Karli and could here Lia following. We reached the gun fight and saw Rain, Rowen, and Emily. Rain had his sickle, while Rowen was trying to shoot a mutt that had her spear.

Rain looked different. His hair had crimson streaks running through it. He soaked his hair in blood. I shivered.

Rowen noticed us and shot at my head. She missed and hit the wall. "I missed on purpose."

Emily saw Rowen talking to us and she saw Karli. "Karli! I thought you were dead! Mom turned into a giant Fluffy! I ran as fast as I could!" She ran over and hugged Karli.

1 hour later

Something didn't seem right. Rain sat in the shadows as we ate around a fire. Karli and Emily were talking and I noticed that Karli had put all her knives away, but Emily gripped hers and I noticed her knuckles were bright white.

I talked to Lia about what happened during the chaos of the day the animals started to mutate. She was going over to Karli's house when she saw a mix of a toddler with a poodle.

After some talking for a little bit, everyone fell asleep.

Except Rain and I.

"Look. I know we had that crazy thing go down at the shop, but I'd rather live and I think you would too. So let's forget about it." The words came out before I even knew I said them.

Rain glared at me. "Fine." He said sternly.

I nodded and closed my eyes. I fake slept and peered through my eyelashes to stay watch. Everyone just sat there.

My eyelids finally drooped and I was whisked away into empty dreams.

I woke up five hours later to her a girl screaming.
