°Noah's POV°
She crashes into me and I wrap my arms around her small form, not letting her fall.
"What's wrong princess?" Why is she running?
"I'm not in the mood to talk." She says pushing me away and moving to walk past me. I grab her arm stopping her.
"What are you in the mood for then?" I decide to tease her. She scrunches her eyebrows as I chuckle at her facial expression.
"Can you not be an idiot right now?" She says her face decorated with an angry expression.
"I never noticed you look sexy when you're angry." I grin at her and her eyes widen.
She walks quickly past me as I'm laughing at her reaction. After I stop I see that she is far away from me and running.
I sigh getting in my car and following her.
I reach her shortly. Pulling up on the side of the road I get out of the car and stop Chloe by wrapping my arm around her waist.
"Let me go Noah." She tries to wiggle out off my grasp.
Without saying a word I throw her over my shoulder and walk to my car as she punches my back asking for me to put her down.
Carefully I put her down on the passengers seat fastening her seatbelt. Closing the door I walk over to the other side getting in as well.
I'm greeted by a death glare from Chloe which only makes my chuckle as I start driving.
"Stop the car. This is called kidnapping." She says pouting.
"Did I tell you you look cute like that?" I smirk teasing her.
She shoots me another glare before fixing her eyes straight ahead. Her face turns a light red and I can't help but smile.
She looks out the window expressionless her arms still crossed over her chest.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I break the deafening silence as I place my hand on her knee.
"It's nothing." She tries to give me a smile.
I stop the car on the side of the, now familiar, empty road and we both get out.
"Did you bring us at that lake?" She asks looking around.
"Yeah." I start walking into the wood as she follows me.
When she sees the scenery her face is left in awe.
"It's even prettier now that the leaves are starting to fall." She looks around as I'm just looking at her.
I sit down on the grass and she follows.
"What were you running from earlier?"
"Home." She answers and her eyes fill with sadness instantly.
"Why? What happened?" I ask as she avoids eye contact.
"I found out I was right." I knit my eyebrows in confusion. "My parents are getting a divorce."
I open my mouth to speak but I'm cut off as she continues.
"They used to be so in love. How can two people just stop loving each-other after years?" She pushes her hair back furiously covering her face with her hands.
Slowly I remove her hands to reveal her pretty face.
"Don't be sad. Stuff like divorce happens all the time. It's awful but common. You don't have to go through it alone though. I'll be there with you." I grab her hand lacing our fingers.
She looks at me her face flushed a light pink.
My eyes instinctively go to her lips.
The way they felt against mine.
Her scent.
Her cute, red face afterwards.
What have you done to me Chloe?
"W-what..." She starts stuttering but I cut her off.
"I'll be there for you anytime you need me." I smile at her as she turns her head to look at the view.
Thoughts jumble up in my head and I can't keep them to myself anymore.
"I don't know how it happened or why but I've developed feelings for you that I want you to be aware of. It's been bugging me for quite some time and I couldn't keep it to myself anymore. I just want to know if you feel the same way." See, it wasn't that hard dumbass. But waiting for an answer is hard though.
"Can you not do this today please? I can't think about this many things at the same time. I swear my head is going to explode." She sighs not moving her hand away which is a good sign, right?
"What do you want to do?" I ask her I don't think we're going to stay here all night. Even though I wouldn't be against that.
"I think we should head home. It's getting late."
I get up helping her up as well.
We drive in silence and when we get home I park in my driveway as we both get out.
She looks towards her house unsure.
"Is there a problem?" I ask placing my hand on her shoulder.
"I-I don't k-know if I can get inside and face them."
"You'll have to deal with it sooner or later. It's your family after all. You can't ignore them forever." I put my index and thumb on her chin and raise her face so she looks at me.
A look of determination crosses her face as she grabs my hand and drags me inside her house.
As soon as she opens the door we come to face with her mom and who I suppose are her dad and brother.
They look worried sick.
"Where were on earth were you?" The man sighs.
"I was out." She answers with half a voice.
"Why didn't you call or at least answer your phone? We were worried sick."
"I wanted to get away from everything that's happening dad."
Her dad opens his mouth to speak but Chloe cuts him off.
"And you know something. I don't care about your divorce. You can do whatever you want with your lives. Just know that it won’t be the same for me." She says coldly still holding my hand.
Instantly she pulls me back outside besides her dad's numerous protests.
Once we are on the fresh air she lets go of my hand and covers her face with them letting out a huff of annoyance.
I wrap my arms around her pulling her close to my chest.
At first she doesn't move and rests her head on my chest, but when the front door of her house flies open with a loud thump she jolts away from me.
The two men are both getting into their cars and driving away not even glancing our way.
Chloe's mom is standing on the porch her eyes focused on her daughter and her arms wrapped around herself.
As soon as Chloe sees her she turns around and starts walking fast the other way.
Glancing towards the lady one last time I go after Chloe.
"Hey!" I call for her but nothing. "Hey stop!" Ignored. "Chloe!"
It's getting dark and I don't know where she is going but I'm not letting her by her self.
Finally she spins around making me almost fall on top of her.
“What?”
"Where do you plan on going?" I ask raising and eyebrow at her.
"Harper's. I don't want to go back home right now."
"Okay. I'm taking you there. It's getting dark so I'm not letting you go alone." We start walking in silence.
The wind is cold and brisk and all she is wearing is a thin shirt. Soon she'll become a human popsicle with this cold.
I remove my jacket and throw it over her shoulders.
She mumbles a faint 'Thank you.' as we just walk in silence.
I hate this silence.
When we get to Harper's house she mumbles a goodnight handing me my jacket and running inside.
My phone rings as soon as she is out of sight.
"Yeah mom?" I answer.
"Is our neighbor Chloe with you? Her mother is here and she is really worried." My moms voice comes from the other side of the phone.
"Tell her I dropped Chloe off at Harper's house." I say starting to walking back home slowly.
•••
Entering my house I find my and Chloe's mom sitting on the diner table talking.
As soon as they notice me the questions start.
"Did Chloe say anything to you?" Her mom asks worried.
"Just what she said to you." I answer simply not really being in the mood to talk.
"Thank you for taking her there safely." She kindly smiles at me.
"My pleasure." I say as I start walking up the stairs.
"This is how they are. She's a good girl and she'll get over it eventually. Don't worry." I hear my mom say from downstairs.
I throw myself on the bed on even bothering to change.
•••
Why do teachers have such monotone voices that make you fall asleep?
Is that your goal because congratu-fucking-lations you've achieved it.
Finally the bell rings and the day is over. Thank fucking god.
I hurry out the door trying to meet Chloe before she is out the school grounds.
I catch her before she can enter her car.
"Can we talk?" I ask.
"About?"
"What I said at the lake." As soon as those words leave my mouth her face changes.
"I told you I can't talk about that right now. It's just too much." She turns around and opens her car door ready to leave.
Not this time darling.
I push the door closed and trap her between the car and my arms not giving her any space to leave or move.
"Do you plan on running away from this conversation forever?" I ask having my face close to hers.
"T-That works m-most of the time." She says stuttering, her cute face flushing. Damn your cuteness!
She stays frozen on her spot not taking her eyes away from mine.
"Noah we are in the middle of school and people tend to spread rumors so move." She whispers determined. There is no way I'm moving.
"Do I look like I give a fuck about rumors?" I reply in the same tone.
Seeing her face so nervous and blushed I get an idea to make it even worst. Why? I just love teasing her. Simple as that.
I move even closer, my face millimeters away from hers. We're so close that with only a small move our lips would connect. Oh how I love the idea, but patience Noah, patience is key.
"If that's how you want to play then I'll ask you every day until I get an answer." I say with a low voice, almost a whisper, never breaking eye contact. "You'll see that I keep my word."
A smirk appears on my face involuntarily. Her face is red by now and I can feel her quick breath hit my face. I'm loving this effect I have on her.
I decide that's enough "torture" for now. But if course I'm keeping my word.
I wink at her as I move away and turn around to walk the other direction over to my car, leaving her still frozen on her spot.
I don't know what's about that girl. It's the first time I go after a girl and not the other way around. I broke my promise to myself that I wasn’t going to fall for a girl.
Ahh Chloe, what kind of spell do you have on me?!************************************
